View Full Version : Who all can ban people from Lnet PRIME channel?

... There's something sort of wrong with the picture than someone can be banned from the LNet channel, but not on Prime ... where I'm pretty sure if a db query were done, Strommy would be in medal status for number of ignores in just a matter of days.
How do we get a few responsible people added with banning perms to Prime?
Don't ask me for examples, I ignored him as soon as someone reminded me I could.

Me. It's my channel. What the hell is going on with it? I've been inactive since January. I did make Tillmen a moderator before I deactivated.

Strommy is relatively harmless. Just really fucking stupid.

It seems Tillmen isn't around much. I've contacted him to let me know when he's online again. I'm not reactivating Mog just to ban someone from Prime, but I can do it with a F2P character and Tillmen gets on to make me a mod.

Could you perhaps add a few more moderators for the Prime channel?
It needs it

I honestly don't think it's as bad as the Lnet channel. Unless I'm missing something. Anyone care to fill me in on what exactly is going on?
Mogonis
08-29-2016, 09:02 PM
Damn, it was never a problem in the, like, five years it was around before. Lots of crazies in the game now?

Only the one crazy, Mogonis.
But wow, very high level of irritation and ;chat frequency. It takes a lot for me to put someone on ignore.

So it's one person who irritated you, whom you blocked, and therefor... there's a problem? Help me fill in the blanks.

He's literally the only person I have blocked on LNet

To be fair he was super annoying, and then he was ignored. Problem was solved.

Two of his characters have been banned forever. Please join Prime again if you need to.

Haha, funny when people are all "You ignored him, he isn't a problem anymore!" No, but it makes for a bad impression for new people on the channel.

He just said stupid shit and asked repetitive questions. I never bothered with him and he never got on my nerves. A ban seems sort of extreme but whatever.

Talking openly about banning him/her will just encourage them to continue. Simply ;lnet ignore is your best course of action. I'm pretty sure copious amounts of cocaine or twelve pots of intravenous Jolt cola was to blame for last night. That's the first time I've ever ignored someone on lnet. It's like laughing at a child that misbehaves, it only reinforces the behavior.

it doesn't solve the problem that new players are exposed to the bullshit, and also others respond by further derailing the chat

I agree, but I'm guessing he/she does minimal time actually playing the game and exerts more effort spewing relentless psychobabble bullshit, so creating an alt to further annoy the masses wouldn't be outside the scope of what he/she would resort to in order to get the attention fix.

In fairness he got to the point where he was extremely disruptive on Prime last night. It started with a bunch of rants that simply didn't make any sense or were difficult to follow...it progressed to almost constant profanity, slurs, and insults. We did have some folks who were brand new to the game asking questions on Prime last nigjt...and I would hate for them to see such disruption and decide that this game is not the place they want to be.
I agree we need some additional moderators for the Prime channel.

And Merchant..... But no need for Profanity on Prime.. keep it to lnet

I'm not against profanity on Prime, but there is a line. Prime is supposed to have class and dignity. Also no drama and flame wars.

Has the Prime channel gotten that bad since I've been gone? Anyway, it'll be moderated closer now.

Just since Duskruin came back, there seems to have been a flurry of activity on the Prime channel. Before that, it had been rather quiet.

I hate all the "back in the day" stuff with every fiber of my being. I generally make fun of people who bring it up.
As far as moderating goes, being a mod myself, I wouldn't ever permanently ban someone based on the request of others, even people I trusted. That's pretty much against what we're supposed to do as moderators, and an abuse of privilege, imo.

I observed long enough. The dude was completely inappropriate, both on chat and in-game. He got pulled by GMs for language at least twice. He was already banned from LNet. If you get banned from LNet, you probably don't belong on Prime.

My theory was that Prime was supposed to be Gemstone-related. Maybe not like 100% "you can never say anything else" but not the old "I'm having a bad day at work".
If you start swearing a little because your character got disarmed and killed I mean, that sounds pretty relevant to Prime at the time it happened.

Yeah, that was always my thoughts on it. There is LNet, which is whatever, and then Prime, Plat, Shattered channels which are supposed to be more related to their game instances.

At its most basic, Prime is for Prime players/characters only. No Plat or Shattered. However, it's not meant to be "anything goes" like the LNet channel. I don't care if people cuss or talk about OOC things, but some stuff should stay on LNet, like talking about dildos and heated political debates. Drama and flame wars will also be handled with warnings and gags. Prime should be relief from the LNet channel and a good place for new players to get help and not be turned off from the game.

I'm completely on board with this description. I turned off lnet to get away from all of that but I still like being able to discuss game things and help people out when I can (which prime is great for). I've also gotten to the point that people who do consistently use prime like lnet get ignored almost immediately, as do people who irk me. I'm apparently turning into an anti-social hermit and all you damn whippersnappers better get off my lawn!

I always thought those were for in character discussions about Wehnimer's Landing politics, and my halfling's view on the WOW universe or the stars.
