I have numerous times. Some I remember vividly.

I have.
What sucks the most is waking up with your body hurting for awhile in the same place where you got hurt.
I’ve been shot, stabbed, beat, fallen off cliffs, nuclear bombs... but always either given it right back or woke up.

I'll catch some shit for this..but.
I have a really strange relation with my dreams. I have *never* woken up fearing or anything of the like. I've never had a nightmare that scared me, and I've never had dreams that have "haunted" me.
Every time a dream of that type starts up, I normally end up "taking control" of the dream and going wacky with it. Like the classic zombie dream people have? Killing your own friends or family before they kill you? Yeh, I ended up turning that into me killing clones controlled by Alien forces that I then in turn destroyed, freeing my friends and family.
Nightmares have zero effect on me because of my understand of it being a dream, and shifting and controlling it into something I mold. That is the best way I can describ it.
American Indians have a whole culture/philosophy on this. And I agree with it.
Occasionally, I have dreams that I kill people and have a ridiculously difficult time disposing of their bodies and I have this absurdly intense feeling of guilt and paranoia... Which I guess would make sense if I had actually murdered someone.
Edited to add: Even though my cravings for pills becomes lesser and lesser everyday, I still am haunted by dreams that I relapse.

I've had these a few times. I kill someone or some people and am hiding from the police somewhere non-descript, feeling amazingly guilty. And then I wake up and feel guilty for a minute before realizing it was a dream. It's a really weird experience, but I guess it makes me not want to kill people so it's ok.
Also, Tears for Fears popped into my head when I read the title of this thread.

I don't know that I've ever died in my dreams, but I do tend to have "nightmares" of sorts. The most vivid is where it feels like I'm awake, but I can't move or speak. It usually feels like I'm sliding slowly down the bed, too. Freaky. :weird:
I've also had the "Holy crap I've had a kid" (or "Holy crap, I'm about to have a kid" dreams. Scarier than any other

I always have the same two death dreams. I fall from a jagged desert cliff into a rainforest. And I fall from the sky into the ocean. In both dreams I have wings but they are broken and I dont even try to fly. I dont get it. :?:
I've died once in my dreams. I've survived nuclear wars and shoot outs and done other crazy things. Usually though I'll wake up and spend the whole day thinking of it if it was particularly weird dream. Most of my nightmares involves very somber, but very beautiful women. It's weird.

I have never died in my dreams, I dreamt that my son drowned I was holding him crying and telling god you cant do this to me and to give me back my son. I woke up holding onto a pillow and crying it is the single most worst nightmare I have ever had.

I always have those falling off a cliff type dreams but wake up before I actually hit the ground and die. Although, I don't normally remember any of my dreams. If I do remember a nightmare it's normally that one.
I remember hitting the ground in my falling dreams. It was weird and uncomfortable, but it really didn't hurt.

I've heard that people can have heart attacks from the shock of actually hitting the ground or something of that nature in a really vivid nightmare.

I had a recurring dream in my youth (from about 5-8) that I was on some flying carpet and the surroundings were pitch black and I was terrified. I never remembered anything else but the carpet, how dark it was and that I was incredibly scared. I had it EVERY night and remembered each one. I remember even that I would go back to sleep after waking up during one and the dream would start again. I tried not to sleep after a while out of fear heh.
After that, around 9 or so, I stopped remembering my dreams for some reason. Now it's just really rare if I remember it.

I used to have those all of the time. My old high school would call and say "We were wrong, you didn't graduate." I'd then be a 24 year old wandering around unable to find my locker and getting detention for being late to class. Very traumatic

I died once in a dream, and then something happened when I woke up that was kind of.. strange. The dream ended up changing my life forever for the better.
Dreams can be amazing and wacky at the same time. Especially when you are pregnant. Though, I will never forget dreaming about how my daughter would look at a certain age. Amazingly enough she looks exactly like she did in my dream. I dreamt about her before the doctor even told me I was having a girl. Pretty cool.
Heh I love the dreams where you are trying to run and your legs are sooo heavy like lead and you can't go very fast. Or if you try to yell or scream no sound comes out. Or the dreams where you're like flying in the sky above fields.
This one time I had this dream I was up in the stars and I could see beautiful aurora borialis and planets and galaxies all around me. (no I don't do drugs, if that's what you're thinking! hehe)
I had a dream once someone shot me in the shoulder and yeah when I woke up my shoulder was hurting and I wasn't even laying on it. Maybe it was a muscle spasim.
Dreams are cool that way.
What's uncool is if you have a bad dream about someone close to you who dies of cancer or something. You dream about the person being sick before any doctors say so, and several months later it really happens. And you're like WTF? That is kinda sucky.

Oh you just reminded me.. I soo hate school dreams. I always forget the combo to my locker or I open my locker and realize I left all my books at home, or suddenly the school turns in to this giant maze and I get lost. I hate high school dreams more than anything. :scared:
I hate those dreams where you are in the supermarket in your underwear. Its embarrassing.

I have had some horrific dreams. The most consistant one I have is I'm sinking in really crystal blue water...like BRIGHT crystal blue (think like Australia's great barrier reef blue) and I'm drowning, yet I'm making not attempt to swim up. Right as I loose consiousness, I wake up.
But the WORST I've ever had...is I was at my parent's house doing my landry and I'm pulling my clothes out of the dryer and they're all stained with fresh blood, finally I reach in and pull out a dead newborn baby, covered in blood. It was really, really graphic and I woke up crying and in hysterics so bad that it woke my mom up. I'll never forget that.

Well SayGoodbye,
It could mean a start on a new project or finishing an old one.
or
Letting go of the past.
or
Could signify a major change in your life.
or
It could mean nothing and be just a dream.
or
The result of too much onions on ones pizza the night before.

I unfortunately have bouts where I remember my dreams. There are way too many to even start to put here, as far as nightmares. They are mostly where I can't talk or scream, either for help or to help someone else. So frustrating.
I've had the typical show up to work or school topless or nude dreams. I've had the dreams where I was pregnant (few and far between, thank goodness). I love the flying dreams, where I start off running and lift off the ground, soaring around where I used to live. Or jumping from the top of my gramma's second floor steps in her old house to glide to the ground.
I can say though that I have never died in a dream.

So if one is having these dreams often and has had them for awhile then I suppose one would be having them because they are having trouble letting go of the past.
Thanks Chelle :)
Oh yeah, I also have dreams where I have to take a piss or crap really badly and can't find a toilet anywhere. And then I wake up and have to make the exhausting effort of getting up out of bed at 5 in the morning and peepee/poopoo-ing :-(

Most of my most memorable dreams... I don't think I've ever died. But I've had people that are "close" to me try and kill me... but I'd always be able to get away... hiding or what not. Heh. But I've never died. Um.. Well I need to head to Mcormicks for dollar import night! Byyyyyyyye.

I don't think I've ever been killed exactly, but it seems like I killed myself at least once. I was like a ninja/samurai and like everybody was enslaved and then I killed the nearby bad guys and I was like "hey mom let's run away so you don't die" and she didn't run away. :(

I have yet to die in one of my dreams but I do have alot of dreams where I'm falling. It's funny because I'll freak out right before I impact and generally my whole body will spasm which wakes me up. Then it takes me a minute to realize what the hell just happened and then my wife will roll over and say "Falling again huh?" then she goes back to sleep.
I have dreams similiar to Jorddyn's where I can't move or speak and I try to yell and nothing comes out. When you dream that you're falling this sucks so much. When I was a kid I dreamt that I was rolling down a hill and woke up on the floor caused I'd rolled off my bed.
I had a dream years ago that my family and I were in our family car and driving along a twisting cliff, but our truck was too big and it fell off, but as we are falling I wake up.
I've never died in one of my dreams but have come close a few times... usually when I dream about being in the middle of a war, or fighting for survival or some shit.
I dream about bears(the most) so much that I finally read up on why and gained some insight into it.

I haven't died in any dreams, at least that I recall. As an adult, the only nightmares that I have are of a black widow slowly lowering itself down a thread towards my face, and I am afraid to move because it'll bite me. I usually wake my husband up screaming about it.
As a child, I had a couple really odd recurring nightmares, one being about this huge ball of yarn rolling down a hill towards me, and it was growing bigger and bigger. The other was that I was on a ship, and all the sudden, the people on the ship start multiplying, and I can't breath, and I know I am going to be pushed overboard soon.

my dreams of death usually involve me falling off of a cliff of some sort, or falling into an abyss of some sort, they're very disturbing.
sometimes I dream that I am suffocating and wake up and find that I am suffocating because i have my face jammed into my pillow too much and am dehydrated..
I don't know what 'scares' me, but I have dreams that for some reason are scary and I wake up in the middle of the night sweating profusely, shaking in fear/abject terror, but have no idea why.
that's all I can say.

I really like this site for dream interperitation. The psychology of dreams is way interesting to me, so I thought I might share:
Dying:
Die
To dream that you die in your dream, symbolizes inner changes, transformation, self-discovery and positive development that is happening within you or in your life. Although such a dreams may bring about feelings of fear and anxiety, it is no cause for alarm and is often considered a positive symbol. Dreams of experiencing your own death usually means that big changes are ahead for you. You are moving on to new beginnings and leaving the past behind. These changes does not necessarily imply a negative turn of events. Metaphorically, dying can be seen as an end or a termination to your old ways and habits. So, dying does not always mean a physical death, but an ending of something.
On a negative note, to dream that you die may represent involvement in deeply painful relationships or unhealthy, destructive behaviors. You may feeling depressed or feel strangled by a situation or person in your waking life. Perhaps your mind is preoccupied with someone who is terminally ill or dying. Alternatively, you may be trying to get out of some obligation, responsibility or other situation.

I have died in dreams in the past. Though usually its me witnessing the deaths of others, people that I "know" even though in the dream its never any faces I recognize when I think about it after waking.
Lately my dreams have either been really really weird, or about not being able to find my baby.
Like one about a pizza oven that looked like a ferris wheel and rotated to cook the pizzas, only when they came out.. they were cheeseburgers. People assure me its a pregnancy thing to have completely f-ed up dreams.

I have these short dreams as I'm drifting off to sleep, where I trip and fall. I usually jerk myself awake trying to break the fall. Mike has them, too.
Never died in a dream, but I've had the paralysis/in danger dream a lot. I've had Stanley's 'I gotta pee and can't find a restroom' dream lots of times. He's right, when you wake from that one a trip down the hall is always a must.
My anxiety dreams are usually that we have to evacuate the house RIGHT NOW and I can't find all of the cats to get them out.
Once I dreamed something bad happened to Mike. That was a Godawful dream I hope I never have again.

I seem to have the near tradgedy dreams alot. IE. For some reason I miss my plane, and it promptly crashes in spectacular fashion, or another I remember, I miss my school bus, and it gets hit by a train right in front of me.
Those dreams make me want to avoid public transit for awhile.

Oh yeah, I can only recall one dream where I watched myself get shot and die. Was weird, kept shifting from me watching from the outside of my body, and being inside it.
I too have had the dreams of bodily functions, where you can't find any facilities, or when you do, they are disgustingly filthy or severely non-private. This is a reoccuring dream for me, so I looked it up some time ago in book I have. The lack of privacy could indicate a fear of public exposure or need for greater self-expression. The toilet dreams themselves may represent the dreamer's public anxiety or shame, or an urgent wish to express or unburden oneself. The dream of unsuccessfully searching for a toilet may indicate a conflict between the need to express oneself in public and a fear of doing so.
The falling dreams can be totally nuts. I remember once jerking myself awake during a falling dream, and my cat, who was sleeping beside me freaked out and put a three inch gouge down my breast, yeeouch!
I love the flying dreams. I too have them of running and launching myself from the ground to climb higher, its a thrilling and terrifying feeling.

Been killed and killed others in my dreams.
First dream I have a memory of was a nightmare where of all things, a gorilla was loose in the neighborhood and chased me down and brought down a shovel on my face after i had fallen. That was from like age 6 or something and I still remember it quite clearly so it really freaked me out.
I remember one time being shot with a machine gun and feeling the bullets hit and knew I was dying and still being shot more and each painfull ripping bullet as I faded.
Once I had a strange dream where mafia type guys were in my house trying to kill us and I snuck up behind one really big heavy one who had just killed someone and cut their throat while saying something corny like "Your turn to die fat man". The person head moved and I realized it was a mask and underneath was one of my aunts of all people.
Also had one of the zombie ones where I became so frozen I couldn't move or even scream until the zombie went after my sister and I was able to try to warn her. My sister ended waking me up as I had fallen asleep in the living room and my whole body was rigid and i was moaning or something and freaking her out.
Weird stuff dreams.
