I am going to make an attempt to do Duskruin Arena this time, and it will be my first time. I know tactics have been talked about in several different threads, but if someone wouldn't mind sharing as far as what to expect and how to maximize winnings, I'd appreciate it. If this info is already listed somewhere, please post a link, I don't want to people to rehash what's already been covered if it's been organized somewhere. I'll be using my level 38 halfling pure wizard to fight, if that helps.
Also, will this next instance of Duskruin include SEARCHing the catacombs and DIGging with the pickaxes, does anyone know?
I appreciate any info or help you can provide.

Searching yes, Digging yes. But pickaxes won't be sold and there likely won't be anything worthy to dig for.

So on Searching, are pendants and pieces still available to be found, in addition to the new Bloodrunes? And the washout mechanic still exists?

Searching has segments/pieces. Arena has pendants.
I'm not sure anyone knows the details about the new bloodrunes.
Washout still happens. There's a script on the repo for sewer searching.

What we know about BLOODRUNES so far is that they alter the glamour crystal effect on the new pendants. you find a bloodrune and can etch it into an ur totem. The resulting item can be put into and removed from the completed pendants. The rarest apparently alters your appareance to that of the minatuor in the advertisement. This is per wyrom during the State of Elanthia.

What is your profession and level? Tactics can vary dramatically.

Level 38 halfling wizard. I am a pure, so spells only. I typically just bolt things currently using 903/904 and will use 901 if running short on mana. My current mana pool is 143. I also use 505 tonis bolt to knock stuff down then bolt them with 903/904.

Bump so it doesn't get lost in the flurry of early evening posts.

I think you're going to struggle but if you're willing to do some preparation maybe the creatures at that level will be suitable challenges for you. You'll have 25 creatures to kill with every 5th one being a champion that is harder than the others. I expect you'll find mana to be a problem but some things you can do would be to bring charged wands, mana regen potions, and use 418 if you trust your success rate.
In the arena you are going for speed. In order for the arena to be preferable over the sewers from a scrip earned vs time point of view you really want to kill all 25 creatures in the allotted time. I have done the arena as a bard, sorcerer, and paladin at high levels but not a wizard so I can't offer you much I'm afraid.
Good luck and enjoy. It is rather fun to arena and find ways to tweak your tactics to shave off a few seconds.

What is your enhancive loadout?

Not sure what that means, but I don't use any enhancives. I've got a pair of wand eating gloves that enhance my dexterity, but that's it.

Not sure of the mechanics, but would I fair better if I took my level 15 UAC ranger?

I got fully loaded spells last duskruin as a 13 ranger with UAC and was able to regularly get 20 down. I bought the potions for zealot and heroism and bravey and was doing 22-23. I could pull 130-150 bs a sewer run plus those gems versus 200-230 bs in arena. Not sure if it will be different this go round but I had a ton of success. Only dagger for low level Rangers is no 610 because it's technically inside but I was using sounds on each champion

And remember, that 'every 5th creature' is not just harder.
It is a champion. It has TONS more health, can't be stunned, and fights a bit better.
All this while watching the arena for traps and stuff.

Level 90ish THW warrior: I assume just aim for heads and bellow/berserk the non-crittable ones? Anything weird to worry about?
Can you bring in outside spells?

@gnomad, wear everything you can get your hands on. As a capped paladin my approach is ambush head x4, mstrike champion. Repeat. If I have something too tall for my dwarf to hit I'll simply use up a charge of 1615 in my weapon to make them kneel before the above tactics. Watching for the traps is pretty important all around but on the individual creatures nothing special comes to mind.

I think only certain professions have to worry about type of creature. Wizards have to pay attention as to which bolt they use, since there are fire golems (+ 1 other fire-type creature I can't remember right now) and ice golems. Empaths have to pay attention as to which creatures can't be hit by bone shatter (crabs, a couple of others) and/or wither (damned steel golems - I have to bolt those things to death with fire spirit.) Don't know if any other profession has those issues.

I pewpew them all in the eyes. About 70% of the time, they're dead before arenawatch picks up their special trap maneuvery thingy.
Prior to champions spawning, I cast 909, and then Stomp them when they arrive. I typically re-evoke 909 after the third champion just to make sure I have the charges for the 5th. If they are using a bow, I weapon fire them. If weapon fire misses, I swap to a staff for the fight.
I keep 402, 919, and 506 up at all times. 919 recast after odd critters, 506 after even critters, and 402 after champions.

Hrmm, sounds a lot more complicated than what I do as a sorcerer.

Aren't you losing BS by not performing the evasion?

Not necessarily, depending on total kill speed and how many total (or maybe per set of 5) you watch for.
I usually skip about every other to save typing and time. I think so long as you watch (also don't need a target from earlier, just wat is good enough) and kill quick 3 per of each 5 is plenty for max.
I was going to ask how his b/s was because 70% does seem like too many skips but probably dependant on the other factors. Watch probably only accounts for like 5% of scrip reward. I had forgotten all about it the last run for a couple runs and despite otherwise perfect was in the low 240s.

If you use ;arenawatch, does it evade for you? I'm still trying to nail down just how to handle the traps and what not. Is there something you have to actively do to evade the trap? Meaning what VERB do you use to evade said trap? Or does it depend on the trap?

it does, but I believe he's saying he's killing before the script does anything for the evasion 70% of the time. Verb depends on the trap.

Correct... 70% is a high estimate, but at least... 40%? But, overall kill speed is so high that it ends up yielding 250.
It's one shot, one kill, Widowmaker and Hanzo would be jealous.
Arena'ing now if anyone wants to watch for a while.

Why 402? I was under the impression it didn't give bonuses beyond 2x perception. Is that not the case?

I dunno anymore... it's 2 mana for 5 minutes... can't hurt?

I use arena watch but it doesn't re watch after the initial manuever check so be cautious of that (only really effects me on champions)
As for verbs when you use WATCH it will say something like so and so wants to push you into the pit, you should prepare to jump to avoid it. So JUMP for that one.
There are several different ones but it say for example bob or lean and you do as such. You don't need to lean a direction just use LEAN.
It will also give a message I believe after you select saying you are preparing to lean from being pushed into spikes etc.
It's a ton of fun and arena watch is very helpful

I just had a go as a 31 ranger and got pummeled, only got to the 5th critter with a full spell loadout. Am a sniper, was using a 610 and trying to hit from hidden. Any advice here?

It does now, Hazado made a fix (not sure if he uploaded it formally yet). Still didn't help my efforts, died on the 3rd mob that time!

I was asking because that's what I use on my UAC ranger, so I may give him a shot. I went in for the first time with my level 38 wizard and I did great. I just rant out of time because I had to pray a few times for mana which decreased my time allowed.

Anyone have a list of all the creatures that appear in the arena?
