Not sure if this is where I should post this or not.

Went out to Stone Valley to kill some bears with my level 21 Sorcerer. With the bears there are also mountain lions. When I appraise both, I get the "You think you'd have a slight advantage..." on both so I'm assuming they are very similar in level. However, their TD is so different between the two it's hard to assume it's intended that way. I am over trained in spells by 9 ranks

You trace an intricate sign that contorts in the air while forcefully invoking Mana Disruption...
Your spell is ready.
You channel at a red bear.
CS: +122 - TD: +48 + CvA: +25 + d100: +92 == +191
Warding failed!

You channel at a mountain lion.
CS: +122 - TD: +108 + CvA: +25 + d100: +42 == +81
Warded off!

Just wondering if this range of TDs is typical in similar type critters (both being beasts around the same level). I haven't seen a range this wide in similar creatures but I'm also only level 21 so I understand my experience is limited.

Both casts are sorc spells I take it?

I'm not sure what the level range of "slight advantage" is, I suppose it could be a difference of like 3 or 4 levels which could account for 9 or 12 of the TD. Other than that TD is critter specific but it does seem strange to be such a huge difference if the critters are around the same level. But lots of things about GS don't make sense.

I think they are on average one level different but that all depends on the independent spawn. That is pretty crazy though.

Great skins if you can manage it though

I remember noting the same thing about mountain lions with my own Sorcerer - I often ignored them, if I could, as it wasted so much mana trying to ward them.

I think this may have been brought up on the officials a long time ago, as it does seem odd that a non-magic creature would have such a high TD. However, not sure if anyone responded and it may have been forgotten.

Maybe BUG one of the lions and explain the problem with the TD? A GM may look at the bug tracker report on it.

Yes... this is a legacy issue from the conversion of GS3 to GS4. There's an incredibly high level component to how TDs were calculated. There are some pretty big outiers on either side until things settle down around 40ish.

There is a TD bump around 25ish to make up for 425, though it generally isn't that huge, still, could be related.

Not sure anyone was really following this or cared much but just saw a post by Estild saying these have been fixed - and subsequently stone trolls TD was raised.
