The Obama economy strikes again. Restaurants are being hurt by low prices at the grocery store.

Wendy’s CEO Todd Penegor said during a conference call that customer traffic across the fast-food industry slipped starting earlier this year as the price gap between eating at home and dining out widened.

That’s because lower commodity costs have kept grocery prices down, while restaurant chains may maintain or raise prices as they deal with costs for running their businesses and try to improve profit margins.

Chief Executive Todd Penegor pointed to "challenging industry conditions, " but said Wendy's North America system has now recorded 14 consecutive quarters of positive same-restaurant sales, "which demonstrates the long-term strength and relevance of our brand."

I would consider this a positive effect of a shitty economy. Maybe we will see a decline in obesity problems as well.

Surprised to hear such a stupid answer from someone who runs a major food company.

1. Burger King slashed the price on ten piece nuggets.
2. I go to Burger King every week.
3. Profit!
