The Perseid Meteor Shower is named after the constellation Perseus, which is their "radiant," or the point from which they appear to originate. They don't come from the constellation, however—they're debris from comet Swift-Tuttle, which orbits the sun once every 133 years. Once per year, the Earth passes through the trail of particles the comet left behind, resulting in a spectacular display of meteors and their trails.

They are expecting up to or even exceeding 200 per hour.
