[Rant]

I get a text message from Cingular -

"Please call Cingular_611 to update your address, thank you."

So being nice I dial 611, go thru a bunch of different recordings, finally push "0" and get PUT ON HOLD.

Why in the world don't they just call me to update my info?? It's easy...Phone rings, I answer, I give them requested info, I hang up, we're done and I don't have to waste my minutes on hold waiting for them for something THEY want. :flamed:

[/end rant]

p.s: In Communist Russia, there were no cell phone companies. Think about it.

Yeah, these days in Eastern Europe they're the only people with decent salaries. It is scary.

I don't pay for minutes spent talking to T-Mobile (which is also 611).

 I bet it's the same for me.

I just didn't feel like holding when they could have just called me...seems it would be easier to do that than send a text message and wait for a call back.

Can't you just update it through their website?

611 is Verizon's too, and it's free airtime. I figure if they want to talk to me bad enough, they'll call. I 'd hang up.

FYI, the reason they send you a text message is that any person/company could get your phone number and call you to get personal information and some people (not necessarily you), would be lame enough to actually give out information. It's a CYA... I work for the company and have had it done to me, for silly things they could have called me for.

That being said.. why didn't you just go to the website and update your information.. you could have chose to ignore the text message.
