Mmkay - I've got the show description mostly set for this, though I can't for the life of me think of a proper short description for it. I've not done too many weapon alterations.
It's a perfect-forged mithril maul, though I really want it to be a sledgehammer. Dwarf Warrior's weapon, if that matters/helps in the ideas.
Show description so far:
A detailed image of a stag's head has been carefully carved into the apex of this sledgehammer's haft, the fine grain of the wood lending it the appearance of fur. Intricately molded pieces of metal sprout from the top of the carving in an imitation of antlers, the delicately branching tines rising up to firmly hold the mithril head of the weapon in place. Spiralled grooves circle the remainder of the haft, the designs intertwining thickly at strategic places to allow for an easier grip.
Feedback/ideas for the short description welcome.
It also seems like it needs a name, though not sure if it's possible to add one.

A massive dwarven-forged sledgehammer?
Maybe a short head description before all of the show? My brain automatically thinks the head is stag shaped till I get to the end of the sentence.
A detailed image of a stag's head has been carefully carved into the apex of this sledgehammer's haft, the fine grain of the wood lending it the appearance of fur.
thoughts, 'A detailed image of a stag's head has been carefully carved into the apex of this sledgehammer's haft, the wood has been feathered ever so slightly and with amazing precision to look like fur
Intricately molded pieces of metal sprout from the top of the carving in an imitation of antlers, the delicately branching tines rising up to firmly hold the mithril head of the weapon in place.
thoughts "Intricately molded metal antlers sprout* from the top of the carving, the delicately branching tines rising up to firmly grip the mithril head of the weapon in place"
*Sprout may be considered movement? I am not a doctor, but maybe have a sub thought up for that one just in case. I don't look at a lot of weapons so it may be common for all I know.
I would move some bits around. You go from top of haft, down to whole haft, up to top of top of haft, up to head, then back down to haft. I would try to organize it in a line, as though you were slowly scanning the item from one side or the other.
It's a really cool look! I look forward to seeing the final results.

Just have a merchant add a READ description to it. What I generally try is this: Whisper <<merchant name>> Hi, I'd like to have this changed to the following: A massive dwarven-forged sledgehammer. SHOW: A detailed image of a stag's head has been carefully carved into the apex of this sledgehammer's haft, the fine grain of the wood lending it the appearance of fur. READ description: <<name>>
Include all 3 requests from one merchant. Some will go ahead and do all 3 at once, others won't. If you're using a Sadie scroll, then you're likely to get it all at once for the price of one scroll. I did any way.

Thanks for the very good critiques!
I really don't do weapon alterations often, so glad to get some feedback. I'll see about tweaking some things - I'm planning on getting it done at EG, so I have some time.
