SUBJECT: DANNIR'S KILL OF A SAND DEVIL AT LEVEL 20 (GEMSTONE III LOG)
TIMESTAMP: JULY 19, 1998 1:57 PM PACIFIC STANDARD TIME
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There were times I didn't feel up to the socialization requirements of playing Tenser, so
I rolled up a halfling ranger named Dannir. He let me play more or less anonymously.
I started him right when archery was created (unsure of date, mid 1997?) and in July
1998 made 20th level and travelled to Teras Isle to kill a sand devil, who, at the time,
were 56th level. Yes, I did cheat and have Tenser spell him up, but it was still pretty
cool in my mind.
422AS:
+140 AS Ranged Weapon Training
+30 AS kneeling with crossbow
+30 AS camoflage spell
+50 AS 6x crossbow shooting 4x ebladed bolts
+35 AS COL signs
+75 AS blue crystal
the rest dexterity, heroism, and/or bravery? I think that's how I got to 422 AS.

Anyway, I killed one devil and went for a wasp but got fatigued so ran away.

You search the sand devil.
It had a silver wand, some dirty red robes, a giant clamshell shield.
It didn't carry any silver.
It had a green starstone on it!
Interesting, it carried an oaken wand with it.
A sand devil disperses into a cloud of dust and a breeze.

[Teras Isle, Washed-out Road]
Water laps at the crumbling edges of what were once flagstones, echoing across the deserted hills. From somewhere not too far off, the calls of seabirds answer. Tumbling water vines clog the river's edge and the roots of trees reach out into the refreshing water even where all dirt has been washed away.

[Teras Isle, Washed-out Road]
A road once meandered along the river. Unfortunately the river has done some meandering of its own, with the result that not much is left of the road. Here and there bits of the road remain, but the rest is little more than a flat sandy expanse beside the river, fine for walking, but useless for wagons and other civilized traffic. You also see a shallow ford.
