So far, really enjoying my UAC ranger. Come to find out though, I really don't like skinning tasks and they seem to be the least worth it when it comes to the amount of exp the AG doles out for the task.
At some point, does the AG start increasing the amount of exp they give for these tasks?
Is there some other system in the game where being a good skinner (maintaining 1x in FA) is worth it?
I don't see where the cost to be a good skinner would be worth it for the silvers you could earn. I figure you can make plenty just by looting creatures for gems, boxes, and the occasional critter found/box found item. Does this change significantly at some level to make skinning creatures worth it?

After you're at a stable level (ie cap), you can start storing multiple stacks of skins (or buying them from stores) for easy bounty turn ins as soon as you're given the task. Up until that point, as long as you're trained for skinning well getting 10 or less magnificent skins is faster than killing 20+ creatures for a culling task.

If you don't sell your skins until you get a bounty, you generally have more than enough to complete it on the spot, even if it's "only" 600-700 exp. Still beats burning a bounty boost.
Value really depends what you're hunting. Skins on critters with treasure are generally worth far less than on animals and whatnot. My empath pulls around 1k per critter in the blighted forest, which means he also gets around 1k BPs per skinning task. More if I take the time to appraise my skins and sell the most expensive ones. Tusks there are a pain because they're 2 lbs each, though, so sometimes I sell them off and only do viper fangs.

Yeah, what they said. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush and all that. Any type of task that you can turn in instantly is a good one, even if the exp isn't as high.
It can definitely depend on your level range and location, though. If you're in an area where you get tasks for a ton of different skins and they're not worth very much, you can just migrate some points out of survival/FA until you are just below 0.5x skinning skills to opt out until you've moved on. I did that a bunch while leveling. On the other hand, there are some points in the game where you'd be a fool not to go hard on skinning. Easy 3k BP tasks for aivren and caedera, for example. Or fog beetles and burgees on Teras.
Skinning is also one of the most consistent sources of silver in the game.
