Hey everyone, recently reactivated a young (24 trains) old dwarf warrior of mine and wanted to know about how many ranks of harness power he should get to be able to keep his sigils up. I will likely eventually be swinging an ensorcelled weapon but for now I am not and it is tough to maintain the better sigils. Not sure if I want to be dependent on my weapon for the extra mana but I have never swung an ensorcelled weapon before so not sure what to expect. I have been slumming it a bit and just running the basic AS/DS boosters plus the extra HP/herb RT reduction and the plus 5 mana per pulse. I have no problem with this and can work in the occasional berserk with the spare stamina.

As far as the guild goes he is working on berserk and tricks. I remember in the past there was a rule where you had to diversify your training but since I have gotten back in the swing of things I have been focused on tricks and have not been asked to train in anything else. Has this rule changed or will I see it after a few more ranks?

I am considering some warcry training as well but he tanked his influence, how much of a problem is this going to be? Stats below:

Name: xxxx Race: Dwarf Profession: Warrior (shown as: Soldier)
Gender: Male Age: 77 Expr: 688579 Level: 24
Normal (Bonus) ... Enhanced (Bonus)
Strength (STR): 85 (27) ... 85 (27)
Constitution (CON): 88 (34) ... 88 (34)
Dexterity (DEX): 78 (14) ... 78 (14)
Agility (AGI): 92 (16) ... 92 (16)
Discipline (DIS): 77 (23) ... 77 (23)
Aura (AUR): 86 (8) ... 86 (8)
Logic (LOG): 91 (25) ... 91 (25)
Intuition (INT): 42 (-4) ... 42 (-4)
Wisdom (WIS): 83 (16) ... 83 (16)
Influence (INF): 40 (-15) ... 40 (-15)

Can this kind of influence be overcome? Will it only affect my learning of war cries or will I be pretty severely hampered in the field even after I get a good amount of ranks?

For a complete picture here are my skills:

(at level 24), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:
Skill Name | Current Current
| Bonus Ranks
Armor Use..........................| 178 78
Combat Maneuvers...................| 152 52
Two-Handed Weapons.................| 152 52
Multi Opponent Combat..............| 120 30
Physical Fitness...................| 166 66
Dodging............................| 108 26
Harness Power......................| 102 24
Perception.........................| 108 26
Climbing...........................| 50 10

Working to get to 3x PF and then likely to 2x dodge and more MoC. Quite a fun character. Appreciate any feedback!

OK, there were a few questions there.

* [how many ranks of harness power he should get to be able to keep his sigils up?]

Now obviously your mana regen will factor into this a little bit, but empirically I was doing OK with 25 ranks coming up. Eventually I bumped my HP to 40 ranks and my general happiness level has increased.

AFAIK, there wasn't a benefit to balancing your training out. There are two things you want to consider: tricks and berserk are going to be far and away the most useful skills you'll get. This is totally personal preference, but I would recommend prioritizing berserk (breaking stuns, crushing groups with MoC). Tricks really comes into play when you need to be able to feint things into offensive. You'll notice that becoming more important in your 40's and 50's, so aim to have tricks mastered by then.

On the other hand, warcries is going to be probably your hardest one to master, given how badly you've tanked influence. With INF that low, you'll still be able to get shout up in groups (which is great), but you'll have a hard time with solo hollers or offensive cries. Since warcries will be harder to do, I'd avoid putting it off until the very end, unless you plan to fixstat later down the line. Roughly, I'd suggest going in this order: Berserk, Tricks, Warcries, Disarm/Tackle (good to do at same time), Batter.

Good goals to have coming up:

1) 3x armor to 140, then 2x the rest of the way. Get into MBP as fast as possible (70/80 Ranks) and then plate (130/140 ranks)
2) As close to 2x dodge as you can manage.
3) 25 ranks of ambush by level ~40-- this is when you'll start encountering things that need to be feinted/ambushed in the head
4) Plan you swim/climb ahead for any hunting areas you want to be able to get into (20 climb for darkstone, 50 climb for minos, etc)
5) 1x MOC. Only really valuable in increments of 5, so you can cheat here and there.

Good luck, it's a lot of fun!

At a 9 influence bonus I had a 15% or so success rate using Holler at 62 warcry ranks. With a bonus that low it's not even worth attempting to master. I'd do warcries last or after a fixstat.
