Speaking more to this piece of advice - the gnomes do play hard to get and like a subtle approach, and they like it in the stink. For most gnomes, the term "spelunking" is used to express desire to enter the forbidden orifice. For forest gnomes, "blazing a trail" will do. There's a lot of lingo. Hand signals in the bathhouse work too - make sure you're a CoL member. Just don't mention your bathhouse techniques in public, there's a certain dark assassin lurking around and he doesn't get his description from being shadowy if you know what I mean. When in doubt, clearly roleplay that you're covering your bum.
