I want opinions on different video games on the market. I haven't owned any sort of video game since high school eons ago. What is the best one on the market? Xbox, Nintendo, play station? As well what sort of cost are the games for these now adays?

If I had to rate just new systems, I'd say Xbox is best, followed by PS2. Nintendo has pretty much dropped to last, as it mostly targets small kids.

If counting all old systems, I'd say SNES still remains King, IMO.

New (good) Game = $50
New (meh) Game = $30
Platinum/Greatest Hits = $20

Xbox - best graphics (though just slightly better then PS2) Limited amount of good games. (Bard's Tale, Halo 2)
PS2 - pretty damn good graphics, most games, lots of good games. (Gran Turismo 4, GTA: San Andreas)
Gamecube - not as good of graphics as PS2, more kid based (Zelda, Mario)

Just my opinion, of course

Something I noticed looking at the links listed above is that FF XI won't run on the new PS2 if it does not have HD capability.

That'll be fixed soon. I read they're coming out with some new kind of memory card or something along those lines that is supposed to hold an insane amount of data. They also said that with this, you can do stuff that you'd normally only be able to do with the HDD, like download extra content (SOCOM 2 maps, etc.) and play Final Fantasy XI.

Think I read it in this month's EGM.
