View Full Version : Took A 5-Year Break, Don't Remember What I Was Doing

So I took a 5-year break from the game and reactivated my account. I honestly can't remember any of my plans and all my lasting memories are from GS3 days. So I'm confused by CMANs and quite a bit else. Anyway, does anyone want to give me a little rundown on what I need to remember to get back into playing?
I know I'm in Sunfist, but I don't really remember much about it. What is the general thought on which CMANs to master? Should I continue my current training plan or mix things up?
I was part of the warrior's guild but it told me I was 60-something months late paying dues and they took away my guild membership when I logged in the first time.
Also, I thought I remembered being able to get a fixskill and/or fixstat when I bring a character back? Did I just make that up?
Thanks in advance.

I hope a warrior pops in soon and gives you some advice. The PC is a bit unstable of late, so a lack of responses could likely be attributed to people not getting a solid connection.

Training and combat maneuvers look pretty normal. I'm not a huge fan of parry mastery myself but to each their own. I'd say your next cman should be that second rank of combat mobility, but some feel just 1 rank is enough. I'd also suggest you grab 40 ranks of shield use over the next few levels and learn 4 ranks of shield bash and shield charge to better defend against those in camps if you camp a lot. You probably also want to look into shield maneuvers in general, especially if you are looking to change things up from two-handed weapons.
You only get the free fixstat and fast skills migration period if you just converted from GS3 to GSIV, it isn't for every time you come back to playing the game. If you had came back a couple months ago I'd have suggested you fix things up a bit because we do a get a yearly fixskills may 20th but that day has sailed for this year already.

What do you have against parry mastery?

What's he hunting? Training seems fine. More mana than you'd need at this training for sure. Climbing/swimming could be cut to 12. I'd drop survival/perception/first aid down to about .5 too, but I don't have a high opinion of the marginal help they offer.
Boost armor as you go, MOC looks right on at the 35 rank unlock and the gap to 60 ranks, ambush to 24 ranks would be wise for leg/neck/arm targets. Physical training to 3x.
You should be a power house based on your start stats in this level window.

I haven't been to a camp at all since coming back into the game. I seem to remember my only chance in them was to join up with a few other people and just berserk my way through it, fully spelled up. I'm sure that just makes it easier and I can do something in there without that, but I'm generally lazy and I recall berserk being fun to watch.
Do you think two-handed weapons isn't a good long-term plan? Or are you just suggesting that for if I get bored of it?

I've been hunting Kiramon Workers, things in Gyldemar Forest, and hunter troll and scaly burgee all around Ta'Illistim. It's been very easy going in general. I'm still trying to get my feet wet and relearn the ropes.
I need to read up on what the survival/perception/first aid but I do like how easy foraging tasks have been. Don't know if that's actually worth the training. And I don't know at all what Survival gives me.

Since you left, squares have gotten Martial Stances; they're CMANs that put you into the stance that provides ongoing benefits. You can learn as many as you want, but you can only be in one at a time. I'd look into:
Stance of the Mongoose: chance to automatically counterattack when you parry. Works in RT, gives a little RT. Synergizes really well with berserk, where RT is irrelevant. I'm told war campers like it.
Griffin's Voice: Decreases warcry vocal strain and lets you yell at undead. Pick up 1 rank when you can if you haven't mastered cries yet and plan to do guild work.
Rejoining the guild is easy. You just need something like 12k silvers and a guildmaster. PM me, my warrior is in Illistim.
Edit: misread THW aw TWC

You'll still want to get fully spelled for warcamps either way.

I capped using two-handed weapons, and currently mostly use my spear with a two-handed grip. It was more a suggestion if you get bored and feel the need to switch things up.

Spells in camps are your friend. They wouldn't be necessary if all the creatures were warriors or something but, y'know... Sorcerers are a class too.

Sorcerers have no class.

Random chance to save my bacon? I'd rather look for something more reliable.

I mean, for an individual attack, yeah, it's a random chance. But aside from flares, warriors don't really worry about single hits. Over the course of your hunt, +15% parry chance is -15% damage.
Plus, it plays really nicely with Mongoose Stance.

I would be in heaven if monks could get parry mastery.

Eh, I'd rather hunt smarter and not have to worry about it in the first place. And mongoose stance isn't a very good option in most of the places I hunt these days.
