Just got back from a 3 day road cruise across Washington State and here's my evaluation.
Spokane: Not too small and not too big, nice cultural mix. Friendly people, reminds me of a small version of Pittsburgh or most Blue collar industrial cities. Targeting this town as a possible permanent home
Turnbull National Wildlife Reserve: http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Turnbull/ Stopped here, got baked http://www.marijuana.com/blog/news/2016/04/permafrost-marijuana-strain-review/ and hiked for about 2 miles. Mostly centered around migratory waterfowl, tundral lakes and grasses. About halfway through my hike I got to watch a Tundra Swan take flight, spectacular sight to see just as the permafrost went into full effect, an experience that won't be forgotten.
Ginkgo Petrified Forest: http://parks.state.wa.us/288/Ginkgo-Petrified-ForestNice little campground rests at the bottom of the gorge on the western side of the Columbia River, windy as fuck, awesome views, every star in the sky becomes visible at night. First time camping in a desert like climate. Blueberry Trainwreck and a night by the campfire, slept like a baby. http://www.theweedblog.com/trainwreck-marijuana-strain-review/
Seattle,WA: Dirty, fucked, congested, snotty, liberal utopia of creepy fucks. Nothing at all good I can honestly say about this giant fucking armpit of a city. Went to the pier, the thought of eating any food from this trap made me want to vomit.
Olympic National Park: https://www.nps.gov/olym/index.htm Drove the entire route of HGWY 101 around the National Park. Eastern part of the route, mostly very small fishing/crabbing villages, almost an Alaska feel to the culture. Northern part of the route gives way to larger towns, still Alaskan/Maine like in industry. The western part of the drive is an entirely different climate and culture. Primarily rain forest and an area of true hippie dropouts. A lot of rain, but when the clouds break it makes for a visual wonder, big fucking trees. The southwest part of the route opens access to the pacific shore, thus finally setting foot in the last of the three shores, The Atlantic, Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico. Blue Dream https://www.allbud.com/marijuana-strains/sativa-dominant-hybrid/blue-dream
Amazing fucking Road Trip. Fucking stay away from Seattle, complete waste of time in going there anyplace you can imagine is probably a better destination. The state of Washington itself.......where else can one say they have walked in a rainforest, a desert, an alpine forest, an ocean shoreline and a tundra on the same day? Must see if you ever get the chance.
