Armor vs Lockpicking/disarm for Sniping Rogue

I am turning my rogue into a sniper. While I have a great idea of most training requirements from all the info out there, I am seeking advice on rushing into armor training. Is there a reason that I am missing to train more than 1x armor when I plan to snipe? What ASG are most snipers wearing under 50 trains?

I am in brig now and want to focus on locksmithing from a character perspective. So not having to rush into training armor would help.

I'd recommend going 1x in armor use until you're at an ASG you're happy with. I'd shoot for brig->aug. chain->MBP->plate (near/post-cap), stopping somewhere in there if you want to.
