[Wayside Inn, Dining Room]
This ramshackle hostel bears the signs of rough use by hard-bitten travellers and headstrong adventurers. Several blade-scarred tables and low stools are lined up against the walls, while the central area is dominated by a large firepit around which is a low platform covered with a few ratty bearskins. The clatter of clay tankards and the smell of humble victuals provide some small comfort to the steady stream of wayfarers who pause here to meet and greet one another. You also see a white flask and a steep stair.
Also here: Crunthor, Vendayan, Pypir
Obvious exits: south, out
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
A low chirping sound comes from within a painted rose cricket box.
>
Pypir's group just went south.
>
Izbin just arrived.
>out
[Wehnimer's, Outside Gate]
Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. You also see a field mouse, the Ardenor disk, a grey wolf that is sitting and a Wayside Inn.
Also here: Ardenor
Obvious paths: north, east, northwest, southwest
>
Ardenor removes a laje hilted vultite falchion from in his black hunters cloak.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
prep 616
>Ardenor just went southwest.
>
You gesture while summoning the spirits of nature to aid you with the Spike Thorn spell...
Your spell is ready.
>
Izbin comes out of hiding.
Izbin just gave you 50000 coins which you quickly pocket.
>
Izbin gestures at you.

Dozens of long thorns suddenly grow out from the ground underneath your feet! Several of the thorns jab into you!
... hits for 11 points of damage!
... 5 points of damage!
Minor puncture to the left leg.
... hits for 16 points of damage!
... 5 points of damage!
Minor puncture to the right leg.
You are knocked to the ground!
>cast at Izbin
You gesture at Izbin.

Dozens of long thorns suddenly grow out from the ground underneath Izbin! Several of the thorns jab into him!
... hits for 40 points of damage!
... 35 points of damage!
Blow shatters knee and severs lower leg!
Izbin screams and falls to the ground grasping his mangled left leg!
He is stunned!
... hits for 10 points of damage!
... 35 points of damage!
Awesome shot shatters spine and punctures lung!
... hits for 25 points of damage!
... 30 points of damage!
Great shot penetrates thigh and shatters bone!

* Izbin drops dead at your feet!

Izbin is no longer moving so silently.
Izbin seems to lose some dexterity.
The deep blue glow leaves Izbin.
Izbin seems to lose some internal strength.
The very powerful look leaves Izbin.
The white light leaves Izbin.
Izbin seems to lose an aura of confidence.
The light blue glow leaves Izbin.
Izbin returns to normal color.

>laugh
You laugh out loud!
>stand
You struggle, but fail to stand.
Roundtime: 7 sec.

Nope. It wasn't me though. It was a friend of mine. I watched the whole thing and asked him to send me the log so I could post it.

Heh, best way to do it is as a sorc with some sets of full plate in a disk. Just >dismiss disk, prep 720, and bang, they're dead.

Have you been stalking Klaive?

Ahhhh. Hehe. That's a Klaive tactic, I used to do it with scrolls, then I started using plate. I wonder how many sorcerers actually use that besides us?

StrayRogue

Oh I didn't ever use it on someone, though I know the mechanics are totally sound ;)

Maybe if Izbin handed over a million he'd have actually been able to kill 'em. But I'm not going to make any promises about that, incase he's stupid enough to try it.

StrayRogue

Its nothing to do with the amount, but everything to do with encumberance. Usually 50-100k in raw coins is enough to critically encumber anyone, thus making Spike Thorn (a maneuver attack whose effectiveness is based on target encumberance) incredibly deadly.

Most everyone who's been around a while knows about that.

Its also considered mechanics abuse I believe.

The hand-coins-then-use-maneuver has been deemed very SERIOUS mechanics abused that usually instantly results in a 30 day ban (on first offense). I take it from a reliable source.

I dunno about the full plate trick. Sounds like abuse to me too but I have no confirmation on that one.

Izbin is a jackass.

That is all.

The coin thing would, but I'm fairly confident dropping a diskful of items on the ground and imploding isn't abuse. It's just good tactics.

Someone else told me Izbin was Ganryu. Guess it is right. Cause he like killed me the other day for calling him a liar and so... I kind of figured he targeted me. And then he was really weird and told me he was bipolar and high and started talking to me about this tiffany's bracelet he's gonna buy for his girlfriend and asking me what to get engraved on it..... weirdo

Off topic...

But he told me he was going to pick that up a couple of days ago in IM!

On topic...

The coin passing does indeed make one critically encumbered, but there is still the matter of how many known ranks in the ranger's circle, I think Nature's touch still affect thorn does it not? Of course there is Level vs. Level.

Sean, being an idiot, is probably not too well versed in the Ranger's circle and didn't have touch up. I'm not clear about the level difference between the two, or the diversity in training.

Conclusion? Sean is an idiot and probably has trouble with that little maneuver with like leveled characters.

Ranks and age. Similar to that of Implode and most non AS/CS etc spells. Rangers can PK about 50 lvls above their head, if they are smart. So can the lucky sorcerer. But yes, usually it is ranks and age when the spells are applied against critters (as you can't encumber critters by giving them coins).

for those that are interested in knowing, yep that was me that dropped him each time. seems the lil bugger has it out for me. no matter, so far he's out 2 deeds and 50k:lol: if he wants to abuse the mechanics by dropping 100k in my lap, let him. I can use the coins! must say this is the first time in a while that I enjoyed smacking someone down like that.
