Looking for input from the pros around here to help me figure out if this is worth burning a fixskills. I'm looking to convert from a warmage to an enchanting build while I'm working on mastering forging. The plan being that I'm going to enchant up a few items for myself for the future, while I slave (read: script) away at mastering forging for fun and profit(?)

Here are some of the pertinents:

If I'm able to maintain some sense of being able to hunt as a pure, then that's a small bonus (I have no idea how to hunt as a pure). But otherwise, I'm just looking to not explode some of my favorite items when I enchant them, and do spellups.

Any input is much appreciated!

Set macros for casting, there is no need to be in offensive for more than a microsecond.

Your skills look fine to hunt with spells, 2x spells and SA suffices.

Good luck and have fun!

I set up a Stormfront script where I type .t for Tonis so i can Tonis bolt them and knock 'em down. Then just .a for acid, .w for water, .f for fire. The script preps the spell, puts me in offensive, casts, puts me back in guarded, and they almost never catch me in offensive unless I get put in RT by some maneuver. That's where some nice heavy crit padding helps. If you don't have armor with it already, look for some that has temp crit padding, usually very reasonable to get.

Also, Simu is supposed to be updating enchanting where it should take your water lore into effect and decrease tempering times for enchanting. You may want to wait for that, but who knows when they will actually release it...RSN I'd imagine. At this point, I'd imagine they're saving it for Hot Summer Nights so this time it doesn't become Hot Sorcerer Nights again.

Being a wizard got a bit more complicated recently with all the changes. I would suggest you get into Whirlin's guide, it is pretty specific on the numerous builds. Having said that, my bolt wizard is pretty darn similar to yours, I think I have a few less spells and more AS and MIU, but part of that is so he can pour pre-temper potions in a few trains. It would not have any significant impact on the two builds, more personal preference. I know since I am lagging slightly in minor spells my AS suffers a few points but the monsters do not seem to care much. As a pure get ready to spam minor acid, Tonis, fire, and cold, even at 68 trains my wizard still uses Tonis as a setup for a single critter, e-wave or 909, forget what it is called, for a mob, and then spam acid or fire typically. If there is a lot in the room, cone of elements which will be a challenge for yours since it uses so much mana. I have macros set up for each spell, it should look something like this:

stance off\rincant 505\rstance guard

That is for Tonis, which you will have to go into setting and set as channel to have it be a bolt spell, which is what you want. Just substitute other spell numbers in place of 505 for other macros.

This is just my opinion but forging is at best a life sucking bitching from hell from which there is no escape and that is for a profession that is considered a 'good' build for it. Wizards have some pretty fair penalties to forging so if you go that route just know that you will end up with what is already not a great success rate being worse. And just to qualify my DE paladin, which is one of the better builds for forging, is close to being done mastering all skills. Knowing what I know now and how much the price of player forged items are coming down, I am not certain I would repeat it. Just my .02.
