To an extent. The first DoW is on sale on Steam for $3.25, or you can get all the expansion packs for $10 if you want to try it out.

The second one went more small-scale squad tactics with RPG elements, but no base building. Think: Company of Heroes.

I really enjoyed both of them despite the changes.

Oh cool, but darn that it's on Steam -- I have had laptop issues when Steam was on my computer and no idea why but once I got rid of steam, magically my laptop was better. So maybe when I upgrade Ill get Steam back. I know my brother loves Steam and has like 500 games and has played like 40 games but when a game is 1.99 why not buy it haha

Glad to see it's going back to DoW mechanics.

Maybe but maybe not. DoW hasn't done that before, and it isn't really like Total War where they can unlock in a race and let you play it. From the article, there is a pretty interesting campaign, so it'd take a little script writing and voice acting to make them playable. I hope it follows like DoW and we eventually get every race through full expansions.

Demo is out. Feels too much like a MOBA, and the switch away from CoH style cover and DoW2's RPG elements sucks. I mostly played Last Stand, but since it isn't releasing with that mode there's no reason to buy DoW3.

You're just getting it for the campaign? It's supposedly linear, with switching off between races every few missions. No RPG elements.

The standalone expansions didn't add anything to the single player campaigns at all, my dude, besides letting you import your DoW2 squads into Chaos Rising.

They both added races (Chaos and Imperial Guard), but I was mainly talking about the first DoW, which was the best by far. Especially after Soulstorm.

Basically, I prefer the traditional RTS basebuilding, and DoW2 was a bit of a let down for me. DoW3 is returning to that, and I expect they'll create a metacampaign for it in a future expansion, like for Dark Crusade and Soulstorm on the first one.

I can't see Sega competing against Sega. They are developing a new engine for their next historical title though, so who knows... If they develop it for a more modern era, such as up to WW2, that could make a future Wh40k possible. The current engine wouldn't support it though.

Popular thought is they are going to do China though, I'd prefer Victorian era.

They were already pretty much focusing on AoE4. Supposedly there is a second project they are also working on. Kinda mad Necrons didn't make it through though.

I heard that there will be armor and weapons made from your own shit. You have to eat the right foods to make the best, strongest armor or weapon. It's a nice fresh mechanic, I think. I'm excited about it.
