View Full Version : What does your FE setup look like?

I've been doing some remodeling, and have finally installed my TV with 5 speaker surround sound and sub-woofer. So of course, before the trim and doors on the room are installed, I put Gemstone on the big screen! Which leads me to the question, what does your setup look like? I've always gone with a light gray background, which probably would drive some of you bonkers.

Looks like a room window on top and a story window on the bottom. Do you not use any thought windows or the familiar window for lnet (not sure if you're an lnet user or not)?

Looks like a nice setup Hazado. I've never used 4 smaller windows like that on top of the story window. Why does everything look so dark? Is that a skin you're using?

Once I switched to the stealth skin I could never go back to the regular SF front end, hell, I am not even sure I remember what it looks like.

Look at Archigeeks and how bright it is. Stealth reminded me of wizard front end screen

Still nice. I never considered setting Narost up on my second monitor. That's cool.

I haven't used maps in a long time, except for a spiral bound set of maps that one of the Restafarians made. They're pretty sweet but I completely beat the crap out of it. Pavo Rati made those I think, though I'm sure I've butchered the spelling. Normally I just know where I'm going and I type it, old style. In answer to the question about thought windows: I don't use them and don't use Lich either.

No idea how you can watch 3 at a time. I don't think I could ever do it, though if I was going to, I would do it just the way you did.

I am loving this theater sound system, holy crap it's nice. Watched Kill Bill Vol 1 on it Saturday night; pretty nice sound.

What's your thought process for highlights Methais? You've got 'yeah', 'runes', and I think 'landing' in yellow, 'blur' and 'gesture' in red, etc.

Have two monitors, main window (the one above) is on the top monitor, narost is on the lower monitor.

If you've never had it, then it's not such a big deal. But once you get it, you're like: why the hell didn't I do this years ago.

Yeah white background...nope.

Two characters in a single split (tmux) terminal, on my macbook. The side that currently isn't the focus is the washed out grey. The empty black area at the bottom is another profanity "window" i have setup to receive certain important game messages so I don't miss them. Likewise the empty space on the left after wounds and stuff is death messages. I had just logged in so, nothing happened yet. Profanity or GTFO. Don't think I could go back to wizard/stormfront ever. I've had "also here" highlighted forever from when i used to actually leave room descriptions on, it's a lot less important now that i don't.

Never seen or used Profanity. It's a very clean look, but I think I'd have to really get used to it. Almost looks too streamlined.

On anther note, I just downloaded the stealth skin for SF. Mind...blown. Wish I would have done that awhile ago.

Towns, special entrances/exits, and other key words for whatever situation are usually in yellow. Probably along the lines of stuff that shows up clickable in stormfront.

Blur is red because it's a MjE spell, or at least used to be, and I highlight MjE spell names in that color, and other colors for other spell circles. Made keeping up with things when all we had was 405 a lot easier. Still helps even with ;magic

"Mass" in "Mass Blur" is green because that's my wizard color. The highlight string is actually "Mass Blur" but "Blur" is coming up red because just "Blur" has its own highlight also from the old Blur spell. Which I could have removed like 13 years ago and just never really thought about it.

I think "yeah" is in yellow back from when I first started messing with sound strings.

The amount of highlights and sound strings I have is pretty ridiculous. But the colors all serve different purposes and make it to where I rarely have to read anything to know what's going on in most situations.
