Notes:
This auction will go once, twice, sold.
I am not entertaining buy-out offers at this time. Rest assured I'll keep the auction moving along.

Pickup available in Landing or FWI.
an ornate mithglin claidhmore
3x (+15), new style
You carefully examine the mithglin claidhmore and determine that the weight is about 11 pounds.
You analyze your mithglin claidhmore and sense that the item is free from merchant alteration restrictions.
You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the mithglin claidhmore for you.
Edit:
Mithglin has a weight modifier of 110% compared to glaes' 150% - not sure what this may do in relation to lightening or how light it is, though just throwing this information out there for full disclosure in the sale. I've not had a chance to lighten this at all - the 11 pounds is what it generated at.

I'm not sure how much this could ultimately be max lightened to, though mithglin has 40% less weight modifier than glaes, so it will be lighter overall.
I believe material only contributes toward the starting weight, and the item type determines the ending, so everything of one type can be lightened to the same minimum, glaes will just take more services.

Good to know!
Though if I'm understanding the weight modifiers correctly, glaes will always feel 40% heavier than mithglin, even if both are max light. Though it's early and I may need more caffeine before attempting to think about this stuff. (Glaes has 150% weight modifier and mithglin has 110% weight modifier.)
Also, updated!

Nice find. I've seen glaes, never mithglin, though.

I thought lightening an object was a percentage of its weight so there was set number needed to get it done and it just meant glaes and mithglin would be reduced a little more each time than say vultite or mithril until both were the same at max light. But I could be way off base, that has just been what my anecdotal observations have been.

Wiki article I was looking at:
https://gswiki.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Material_weight_modifier
Either the mithglin will weigh less or take less time to max-light it, I'm not sure. All I know is mithglin has a smaller weight modifier than glaes, whatever that may mean.

Probably should have been looking at this one as well: https://gswiki.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Lightening
They will both weight the same at the end and will take the same number of times to lighten, heavier objects will just lose more each time, gradually getting to be less each time as it approaches max light. I am sure some of the folks that understand math better than me have a formula to show it, I am not that smart.

Correct.

Also, updated!Incorrect. See above.

Lightening is usually based on the item's base weight, not its current weight.

Since mithglin weighs 110% base weight, it'll take an extra lightening session to get to max light. The first one will subtract 10% of the base weight, bringing it back to normal weight.
That said, the base weight of a claidh is 12 pounds; the claidh is already lighter than usual.

And I figured my sleepy-brain wasn't interpreting the whole weight modifier thing correctly at the time - thanks for the explainer.
