So if you are wearing Augmented plate and you put on leg and head armor does that make your ASG 20? Or what? Or just make it 18 on your head and arms also?

It's technically ASG20 since you'll need the same armor training ranks for the rt and other armor penalities, but you'll still get asg18 cva and avd.

Ah thanks. So I need me some full plat after all. but if you have full plate you can still wear a helmet and other pieces and get the enhancive bonuses? Just weigh a ton.

All the penalties with half the benefits!

Yup. If you're wearing full coverage, accessories won't affect your AsG at all.

That includes "robes" with or without iron skin, correct?

So if I'm wearing any type of tier 4 armor (so ASG 8, 12, 16 or 20) and I add a 4x helm, leg, and arm greaves, that would add +60 to my DS with the only the added weight as a downside?

No, accessories never add their enchant to DS. Only the base armor enchant matters.

So accessory enchant is basically useless?

Yah.

Well its possibly worse than useless if you want to work on the armor accessory and its enchant raises the costs of services or premium points in some formula somewhere.

iirc you get even worse penalties than wearing a full set because of the way encumbrance works. Wearing a normal set of full plate will be +75 pounds and -75 pounds = 0 pounds, but wearing MBP and all the greaves will be +23 +4 +4 +3 -23 = +11 (I don't know exactly what greaves weigh but you get the idea).

Generally, the encumbrance weight of armor accessories is affected by race encumbrance factors. Wearing arm greaves (5 lbs), leg greaves (5 lbs) and helm (4 lbs), a halfling (0.5 encumbrance factor) would add 7 lbs (0.5 * 14) of carried weight while a giantman (1.33 encumbrance factor) would add 18.62 lbs (1.33 * 14).

Mark - what about encumbrance factors for containers (cloak, backpack, sacks, etc)

As I understand it, the only reason to wear accessories if you are trained to wear the full ASG is if they are enhancive or padded, otherwise, no real reason that I can come too.

I've never seen any containers that use REFs, although years ago when I was testing I found, in addition to armor accessories, a few items of clothing that were also affected but I can't recall specifics.

Correct. However, some players choose to add them to their characters to enhance their appearance even though there is no mechanical benefit.
