This weapon appears to have spent an age at the depths of the ocean floor. Its haft is composed of calcified coral that once grew organically around the metal and now provides a sure grip. The metal's surface is covered in a green patina and the remains of numerous barnacles and coral colonies. The length of the tines affirm their martial efficacy over some angler's tool, and at each tip the patina gives way to unmarred faenor, a testament to recent use. Above the haft is a faint inscription. A strange necrotic haze radiates from the trident.
There appears to be something written on it.
When read:
In the Common language, it reads:
The Sea's Judgment

One handed tridents work fine with hide/ambush, although I would think the weighting would be of more use for an open style.

One handed poles work for hide/ambush. That includes the one handed grip forms of spears and tridents.

When I changed to it, I'd go one-hand to ambush, then crowd control and two-hand to mstrike for the DF. Even as a Ranger it did the job quite efficiently.

Also, it's worth looking at tridents and comparing the 1H dfs to other heavy one-handers - I think prospective owners will find it's a competitive one hand base, probably second only to stars and handaxes, and then not by much.

With double the training cost....

One handed pole dfs are eh, but that like 82.5% puncture with something that is not a dagger/rapier crap df makes it worth looking into.

the wiki has tridents listed as 67% puncture 33% slash. I seem to remember people saying tridents were puncture/crush only, am I wrong or is the wiki?

Spears are the puncture/slash poles, tridents are puncture/crush. I do not have my logs here on this computer, but my numbers came out to be much higher than 67/33 in testing.

Tridents are puncture slash

Definitely worth it if you were planning on a pole/shield build. Aim eyes for easy crits and you can still go two handed grip for more damage on anything immune to death crits.

So, how is blatant hyperbole working out for you?

I stand corrected, tridents are puncture slash.

Puncture / (see what I did there) is good combination for eye crits, because you can kill 100% on randomization down to rank 5 (rank 4 on puncture kills, and rank 5 on puncture kills).
Against non-critable foes, best to use CMAN precision so any rank 7-9 hits you get are likely to get the bonus slash damage, which is generally better by a significant amount than the bonus puncture damage.

Glad to hear it. I'm hoping it went to someone who's really going to appreciate it.

I've always been a sucker for people like that. I left money on the table to make it happen.
I've also bought/sold stupidly nice items on the premise that the buyer/seller has first rights to reacquire/sell.
It's a flaw, I know.

It's really not. It's how business should be done. I commend you for that.
