View Full Version : Anyone switching to Earth and Water lore?

With the new attunement quest I can finally switch from fire to earth lore on one of my wizards. I was wondering if anyone has switched to earth lore and what the results have been with regard to blowing up and crushing mobs? I have seen a lot posted here about water and air and the affect on cold based attacks, but nothing much on earth lore and combat results.

Thanks

I haven't switched yet but I'm inherently lazy.

You don't have to change your attunement to change your trained lores.

Your attunement has nothing to do with how well your spells will function with lore training.

Given the low thresholds to reach potency before being hit with high seed diminishing returns, I don't see water or earth as viable alternatives to fire for a pure caster.

512 isn't enough to switch to water lore, especially since you can't do shit with it against non-corporeal stuff.

512 lost it's luster with this new change. The damage was much more better than what they made it into and they still haven't fixed the Minor Cold into Major Cold damage.

Minor Cold hits harder than Major Cold. Just like Minor Fire hits harder than Major Fire.

I used 512/903 for a bit but switched back to 410 after too many deaths from casters since 512 doesn't silence.

Doesn't the double-cast iceblock also prevent casting?

Granted its 24 mana and 6 CRT instead of 10/3 for one shot of 410, but sometimes 410 doesn't work.

I unsubbed and didn't have the heart or interest in trying to figure out how make 512 good. In theory 24 mana to immobilize several targets in a room pretty quickly seems OK. It would be a 3 second window for a caster to get you.

Does any other pure have to deal with disablers that just don't work instantly? Seems that Clerics can 316 and as long as they can ward the target, they're golden; empaths can 1120; sorcs can 717 (doesn't work on undead) or 720. Of course they also have one of the best single-target disablers evah in Pain.

What do wizards have to compare? 912 could be good and wasn't subject to a warding check, but I always found it unreliable, maybe because I was undertrained in wizard ranks.

Double 512 is pure immobilization, equivalent to bind. Should stop everything.

That 3 second window can be a 1 second window, yanno. Peer before you walk into rooms if you're in a place that swarms.

How does peer change 2 casts of 512 to 1 second without Rapid Fire being involved?
