That program pwns. I don't think I've ever actually stolen more than 100 times, let alone 242 on ONE person.

Interest again, well I think I've tested it about as much as I can.

http://members.cox.net/gs4pickpocket/PPLogv32.zip

The program is a windows executable (win 98+) written in Visual Basic, and uses a Microsoft Access database as the back end. You will not need Microsoft Access - because I've included MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) in the zip file.

It does *not* work with Stormfront. Stormfront's log file names are different then the Wizard. If you're desperate, you can change your Stormfront log file names to a format of "Gemstone Log mm-dd-yyyy (#).Txt" (for example "Gemstone Log 10-03-2004 (1).Txt".

Also, I've entered quite a few gem values into the lookup table - but I by no means have them all. You should regularly go into the "Unknown Gems" tab and enter any values for gems you want. I usually keep the crappy gems (under 100 silver) as "misc" because I don't want clutter in my summaries.

A help file is included - and it can be accessed by pressing F1 at any time in the program.

I likely haven't worked out all the bugs - I've only had two people test it.

Some threads about the program(though the features have changed a bit):

http://forum.gsplayers.com/viewthread.php?tid=8814

http://forum.gsplayers.com/viewthread.php?tid=2198

I'm only releasing it because I'm pretty sure I'd never look at it again unless I get some feedback. Please give me feedback on any bugs/suggestions/or if it just plain doesn't work.

Ah so it scans your logs. So will it scan my old logs, and what happens if I have more than one stealing character?

Yep, it scans logs - Parkbandit scanned about 1500 or so. I've done about the same. That many logs could take as much as 5 minutes to process - depending on the speed of your computer.

It isn't character specific - so I would recommend separating your logs into two different folders if you have more then one stealing character.

I didn't have that issue because Wezas was the only thief of my bunch.

Stormfront would solve the issue - but I'm not re-coding it form stormfront. Mainly because it would lose some of the features - like the date on which the theft happens.

Oh my God I need to steal more:

Date Range: 05/02/2004 - 14/11/2004
Total Silvers Pocketed: 1382
Total Pocketed (incl gems): 11482
Botch %: 3.91%
Average Silvers Per Grab: 86.38
-------------------------------------
amulet: 6
crystal: 5
gem: 1
herb: 7
misc: 42
wand: 1

Fantastic program though. Only thing I've noticed is that silvers are set at "50" instead of the stolen value. Not sure if thats intentional though.

Fantastic program though. Only thing I've noticed is that silvers are set at "50" instead of the stolen value. Not sure if thats intentional though.

Any misc gems (or gems that don't currently have a "known" value) have a generic value of 50 until you update them. The list of "known" gems is pretty decent - has most types of sapphires, diamonds, rubies, etc. - but could definately use some work on Non-Landing gems.

I figured that 50 would be a safe bet for the average topaz, zircon, etc.

Glad to see it's working - keep the feedback coming.

I meant actual silvers. For example:

It says I have a total stolen from Shay as 50 silvers, yet when I view the detail it says I've stolen 36, with the attributed value of 50. Is that intentional?

That's very odd. Would you mind sending me the log (or just part of the log) that it's in so I can do further research?

For some reason it didn't recognize the silvers as silvers - and valued it as misc.

Oh its been doing it for nearly everyone, as you can see from this capture:

Wezas

StrayRogue
11-20-2004, 08:35 PM
I think I figured the problem. By looking through the log, this is the only time I get anything close to a stealing message. Same for the others. No idea why its equating those as set amounts though.

>You hear the faint thoughts of [OOC]-Markuris echo in your mind:
"You reach into Shay's pockets and pull out 32 silvers."

Yeah, that can be a problem. Thoughts and whispers - because it's specifically looking for those strings.

What i had to do in those circumstances is go in and change the log to omit those thoughts. That way the program won't be tripped up. It may not understand the " after
silvers.

Feel free to still send me a log if it still doesn't look right.

Did you send a thought out all of those times?

Nope - this program only analyzes logs that are saved on your drive. the Wizard has an autolog feature - and is what the program is built for.

Stormfront has the issues that I mentioned earlier.

That's ok, Eiderfleur was created in September '03 so you still managed to steal from her a little bit in the short time she used to actually hang around the park.

Man, flashback.

So the logs now have a name similar to:

"Gemstone Log 05-12-2005 (4).txt"? (month, day, year - for you british folk)

It should work unless GS has made some kind of changes to the logging style recently. If you want you can zip up one of your stormfront logs and send it to my legendwezas@cox.net E-mail account.

I'll check it out and make sure everything's ok.

No entries for anyone named Showal between 4/1/2003 - 10/30/2003. Which was the only time I was thieving.

Matt-Ichiban

The files aren't in the correct format. The program that Simu made stopped working after I changed what my log files usually saved as to "Gemstone Log". When I did that it would no longer add the date to the end. I was wondering if anyone had another idea of how to change all the filenames without having to do it manually one by one.

Matt-Ichiban
05-12-2005, 05:25 PM
Ok I found out a possibilty. If you use stormfront and want to use the Pickpocket program:

1 - Download the log renamer from Simu's GS4 download page. Just unzip it and drop it in your log folder. When you need to add dates just double click it and watch it work!

2 - http://www.1-4a.com/rename/download.htm go here and download the 1-4a renamer program. It will rename mass files so just use it to replace what you Stormfront saves logs as with "Gemstone Log" and you're good to go!

Matt-Ichiban
05-14-2005, 04:08 AM
Maybe this thread should be moved out of the dueler's arena and put someplace else lol. Anyway... I had some suggestions for the program.

1) When the log files get processed it should create a save file so that the already processed logs don't need to be re-processed.

2) If possible have the program move the scanned logs to a folder for logs that have been scanned.

3) Have the program remember what folder you select for log scanning. This is for people who don't save their logs in the standard Wizard folder because it can get tedious to have to keep going through all the directories to get to your logs folder.

Overall this program is really great. It's fun to glance over all the stuff I've ganked in the past.
