new player ranger question

Just looking for advice from experienced players of rangers. I want to do a ranger bow/ambush build, but i have no idea what works. Suggestions would be appreciated!

You need to 2x hide and keep your ranger ranks pretty close to level to hide and stay hidden...race helps...things die...you will find undead to be a pain in the butt and some animals will find you especially sub 30...um...try not to die

The goings in the early levels are horrendous for range. Best bet is to swing a weapon for your first 29 days and try to reach level 20. Then switch your stats and skills to better suit you for range.

Race is up to you but some races have an easier time hiding in certain places.

You can reference Whirlin's guide on ranger bow builds. It's pretty helpful so you can at least understand the basics.

I would lean towards a stealth build before level 40 and open range after 40 (point you can get reliable eye crits from the open). There's a lot of synergies for stealth rangers with many ranger spells but open range allows you to kill every 3 seconds once your aim gets good. You can leg and aim for head/neck if you can't get the eye crit before level 40.

GOS or COL with a much stronger preference towards the former. Voln is doable but more of a pain if your using a bow
