I found this one:

A Golvern Two Handed Sword

12lbs

+30

The only thing it sings as is

It helps to defend the wielder or something like that.

Not even sure what that means or how much it does

Can anyone help me with the value?

Jeff

You should try to test the defender bonus. We can probably help with that... get someone to swing at you in stanc o with a plain jane greatsword. Make sure you are not encumbered. Write down the DS, then do the same thing with the defender (again making sure you are not encumbered)... get that number too, and post em here.

XXXXX swings an acid-stained mossbark runestaff at you!
AS: +27 vs DS: +97 with AvD: +8 + d100 roll: +42 = -20
A clean miss.
>put sword in my back
You put a twohanded sword in your dark green backpack.
>take other sword
You remove a golvern twohanded sword from in your dark green backpack.

Looks like a 3x defender weapon to me.

So 6x/3x Golvern Two Handed Sword

What do we think it is worth?
A clean miss.

No one with a ball park estimate on a

6x/3x defender Golvern Twohanded Sword?

Let's say a 6x golvern twohanded sword is worth roughly 4m? How much does 3x defender add? Best guess, the sword is 8-10m depending on how popular the twohanded sword base is. THW isn't my specialty. Most THW people seem to favor claidhs and mauls.

It's a pretty nice sword, would make a cool base for a project piece. If I had a 2h weapon user, I'd pay 8m for it. Not saying that's a great appraisal, but it's all I got.

Ok, you did what I suggested to post the numbers here. But its not as simple as finding the difference (15), and concluding that its a 3x defender.

Take a look at the above equation for 2hw DS, and apply the +30 enchant through the equations. I think it results in +9 DS in stanc o, just from the enchant. So, it would be a +6 defender, not 3x.

As for an appraisal, I don't think +6 defender adds to the value really. Its nice, but I think it interferes with adding other better upgrades. As a result, I would expect to get about as much as a plain jane +30 two-handed swords.

The full defense formula also takes into consideration what's in your hand, (or not). Best thing to do is have a bard sing to it. Alternatively, to really nail it down, get in offensive with a standard greatsword and get swung at, then swap with this one. Do that instead of an empty hand and you'll get a real number.

From his log...he had a two handed sword in hand for each of the swing tests. What stance he was in matters though. Oniros were you in offensive for each swing?

Ahh, you're right. If offensive stance it should be fairly accurate then.

Everything was exactly identical in each swing. I purchased a base twohanded sword so it wouldn't even have a different name. I did both swings by the same person, in the same room, in the same stance, within about 15 seconds of each other. Offensive each time.
