Around 20 i want to hit 27 armor ranks and make the switch to brig at that time i figured i would slowly make the switch to ranged by switching it with my OHE skill point wise.
I still have a week or so left to do fix stats/skills so any imput is much appreciated.

Wish I could help but I don't know much about ranged.

I'm a little confused about your current situation. Why are you slowly switching out if you are still in the free skill/stat change period? I suggest switching fully into ranged before your free skill period is up just to try it out and make sure it's for you. There have been instances in the past where people didn't fire a bow until their 30 days were up, and immediately realized that they hated the ammunition system.

Some things we'll need to know to help you plan your build are whether or not you want to snipe (I'm assuming so from your skills) and what society you're looking towards mastering. From eyeballing it, the only thing you need to do to go full ranged build is shift points from edged and combat maneuvers towards 2x ambush and perception.

As a ranger (and any other low level semi), you may run into points deficits in some levels. I would suggest cutting back on ambush and reclaiming the ranks when the points free up.

A few things to note:

Brig is 30 ranks in Armor Use, not 27... 27 is just for the RT modifier, and spell circle modifiers.

You're not actually a full 1x in pretty much anything... 1x is Level +1, and Level +2 by the time you actually level.

CMAN really isn't necessary for ranged builds... it's a nice to have, but a nice to have when the TP is available (I recommend once you finish up armor use.

You have two options for ranged ranger builds: A sniper build, where you go heavy into hiding, and maximize 608. Or an Open Archer, where you train for a higher tier of armor, and say F it to stealthyness.

Fuck stealth. Rangers are great at open bow use.

I'd agree... but 608 is fucking amazing, especially when you stay hidden, blahblahblah... Rangers have a bit too much hidey helpy stuff. Technical term.

608 is fantastic when you train for it. I think that if you can't stay hidden it's a wash.

I loathed hunting as a sniper though. Completely doable, and absolutely perfect when supplemented with 608, but fairly tiresome until much later.

Ranged is kind of rough at low levels, particuarly if you don't have macros or scripts set up. I would try to get to 20 first then switch over.

Apart from that, decide whether you want to snipe from hiding or do open archery. Sniping is a little more annoying but can be the safer option, and we have spells that allow you to go either way. I would train until augmented chain as an archer.

once i hit 10 ill find a 4x bow and be set. i am currently in voln but thinking long term i dont see myself using alot of the signs and am thinking CoL might be abetter option. My only questions are now is should i keep 1x OHE an when should i train in lores

Core skills for sniping would be something like:

1x armor (until brig or higher)
2x ranged
2x hiding
1x PT
2x perception
2x ambush (ideally, early on you might be 1x or 1.5x)
1x dodge
1x spell research
harness power at your level

Don't be afraid to neglect skills like climb/swim, they definitely aren't a priority until certain places, and by then they are dirt cheap. Voln *kinda* sucks for archers because you'll need to hunt undead, and as a sniper you won't be able to hide for most of it. Plus the puncture resistance and hassle of blessing ammunition.

No, drop OHE asap. I have never been a big fan of lores for a ranger, but spirit lore: summoning has a few minor bonuses that you might want later. Definitely not a priority.

So ive been using only the bow for the last 3 levels or so and fing i hit alot more often and harder then i did with the axe
i still have a week left on my fixskill so i figured id post these again.

Level:10

Skills:
Skill Name | Current Current

Armor Use..........................| 70 15

Swimming...........................| 25 5
First Aid..........................| 50 10

Spell Lists

Spell Lists
Ranger.............................| 10

I copied those as soon as i leveled, i had an extra 32 physical points remaining.... once i no longer need to train in armor and physical training im hoping ill be able to catch up on my minor spirit spells and a bit of lore. but to me this seems like a good path for the next 10 levels when i get brig. Again any insight would be great.

Whirlin's ranger guide is unfinished but gives some good advice on ranger builds.

https://gswiki.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Guides_by_Whirlin:_Ferns,_Furs,_and_Ferrets:_Whirl in's_Guide_to_Rangers

P.S. You should be 2x perception as an archer always and work to get shadow mastery at later levels as a stealth build.

Don't forget GoS. They have some nifty abilities as well.

What race are you? If you're something with crap spirit regen CoL might not be as good, and I see you've tanked your AUR stat. I have a Voln archer (he was OHE before I switched over when archery became viable) and if I didn't care about his RP I'd go CoL or GoS. I don't have much experience with GoS but with no CMAN use you'll have a pretty large pool of stamina to use, plus nifty crit/damage weighting.

Dark elf, I still have 1 fixstat left. GoS looks interesting but it's because it's new I'm scared of it I guess

The one thing you have to worry about with GoS is the spell casters in camps.
