The +50 DS increase is the result of a long standing bug with parry DS vs ranged attacks. Normally, ranged attacks bypass all parry DS except for runestaves which have a reduced bonus of 50%. Part of the parry DS formula is a stance bonus which increases by increments of +10 (0 in stance OFF to +50 in stance DEF). In the second attack you gained the parry DEF stance bonus of +50.

Oddly enough, the bug only occurs when you are NOT holding a weapon you are trained for. You lose the stance bonus when parry DS is activated. If, for example, you had 1 rank of brawling skill with an empty right hand you would not have received the +50 DS bonus. However, the right hand does not need to be empty to gain this bonus. Holding anything other than a weapon you have skill ranks in will also activate the stance bonus vs ranged attacks. Ranged attacks include bolt spells.

That seems like a pretty fucking huge bug.
