Found a cloak that inspects in armor buried in my locker. Decided to play with enchanting it for shits and grins. What is the weirdness about the fumble on the pour then the cloak mystically being worn, but not worn, then re-appearing my hands? (I've snipped checking for any other "cloak" that could be interfering with the nouns as this is long enough as is.)

I've blown a thing or two up enchanting, had setbacks, whatever. I've never seen a failure on a pour, but I've never bothered with anything that wasn't an armor, shield, or weapon before either. Is this typical for accessories?

As the liquid coats the surface of the wolf hide cloak, a misty aura fills the air surrounding it, dancing around your fingers as you gesture over it with a soft incantation spilling
from your lips. Small runic symbols flare to life at various points along the surface of the cloak, their blurry edges wavering in response to the cadence of your voice and the
liquid in these areas absorbing quickly beneath the surface. When the last of the liquid has vanished, the symbols dissipate and the cloak appears faded. You scrutinize the
wolf hide cloak, notice nothing amiss, and conclude that the tempering seems to have been successful. You estimate that the wolf hide cloak should be ready to enchant in
about 1 to 2 days.
Roundtime: 20 sec.
You only have one dose left.

I'm assuming those are robes, but perhaps it could be AsG 1, Normal Clothes! I have a set of "some normal clothes" (AsG1) on a character to somewhere.

Not that this had anything to do with your post.

Oddly, it appears to be just an accessory

>inspect my cloak
You carefully inspect your wolf hide cloak.
Your careful inspection of a lustrous black wolf hide cloak pinned at the shoulder with a sea green glaes scarab clasp allows you to
conclude that it is not even armor that doesn't protect at all.
You determine that you could wear the cloak, hanging it from your shoulders. The cloak appears to serve some purpose.
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of cloth.

Best I can find is a reference that it was something sold at the FWI Fest in 2004.

quite a few older cloaks were enchantable for no good reason, including the woven cloak some critter in the graveyard dropped. it was all in how the item flags were originally set by the creator twenty odd years ago

those old silver threaded boots were enchantable as well. I enchanted them some .. but did nothing to help.
