When to switch

At what training is it best to switch to sword and board. Or is it viable to stay two hander till cap? I am almost 55.

You can swing a two-hander for as long as you want. Some of us have picked up shield use just to be more versatile. I also suggest picking up 40 ranks of shield use at 1x cost to grab 4 ranks of shield bash and charge for some solid defense against them.
