Just making sure it's going to be as easy as I think it is...

Wanting to switch my lady from CoL to Voln, at 83. If I'm reading things correctly, I can just take her to Bonespear or the Citadel in RR and spam kill shit tons of undead and rank up pretty quickly in Voln... no need for things to be at her level or experience-giving, correct?

(I'll miss the AS/DS/TD signs and Staunching, but man, am I in love with the idea of the Blessing & Seeking symbols!)

I could very well be mistaken, but I'm fairly confident undead level to your own training factors into the favor received. For your sake I hope someone corrects me.

From the wiki:Favor gained from releasing an undead is equal to [( character level ÷ 15 ) × creature level )]. Round up the result to the next highest integer. This assumes that the character releases the undead solo and the creature has sustained no previous damage.

I don't recall that ever being the case.

Well, I haven't switched yet, so I'm going to wait until people who may (or may not) be able to correct can chime in.

The information on the wiki (https://gswiki.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Favor) is 100% reliable. At level 83 you'll need 1,375,864 units of favor to master. The amount of favor gained is indeed (character level / 15) * creature level. The amount of favor gained at level 83 for killing a level 55 (eidolon) is 305 units per kill. If you were extremely efficient and only killed the minimum number required to advance for each voln step the total number of eidolons required to master voln would be 4523. If the average level of the creature is higher than 55 then the number required would be less. For example, if you were only killing same-level creatures (level 83) you would reduce the total number of kills required from 4523 to ~3000.

There is no need to REST when accumulating favor so you could, theoretically, continually hunt 24/7 for favor. Realistically, it should take a bit less than 3 weeks for you to master voln if you kill ~250 eidolons per day. There is also no minimum creature level required. All undead will add to your favor pool. You can't bank favor toward your next step. Once you've accumulated the favor required to advance you should see the monk and complete your task. Excess favor will, however, add to your usable favor bank for powering symbols, just not for advancement.

The values represent the number of eidolons (level 55 creature) required to advance for each step. This will number will vary depending on the actual level of each creature killed.

Ahhhh, that's the sort of data I was looking for. Thanks so much Mark, it's appreciated!

RR's Citadel also has insane spawn rates, from what I remember.

I'm still on the fence about switching over, going to take a few hunts without using any of my CoL signs to see if I can handle it (it's seeming like I can) without them. I do love me my Staunching though...

What profession do you play? That would have a large part in determining the society for me.

I was figuring since I posted in the Paladin forum that that would be obvious... ;)

Possibly, but I wasn't paying any attention. It shouldn't matter what society you choose as a paladin.

Find a place that swarms, spam a bunch of bullshit, repeat until master, hunt plane 5 to maintain favor unless there's a better spot I'm not aware of.

What areas swarm these days anyway? Does anything swarm without requiring a bunch of people hunting the area at once? I mean for anything, not just undead.

I seem to recall the jungle in RR having a pretty high gen rate when I was there (part of which was my slow kill rate as a Tonisless OHE bard.

Hunting there like level was fun...always had to stay on my toes and retreat when the crowds got too big.

Well, yeah... it doesn't matter what society my paladin is in. She's already in CoL. I was asking more if my thinking was on the right track with how easy (or not easy) it would be to switch, and master, her over from the CoL, which she's already in, to Voln.

Thankfully, we've got some awesome people around here who know more about things like that, and can do math that my brain can't, and were able to give some solid estimates... which I really do appreciate. :)
