So for the last day or two I keep getting a pop up on my Laptop about Genuine Windows, telling me to go online to DL to ensure I have genuine windows and get all the needed windows updates. I however have not clicked the link and am wary it is some kind of malware. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is a legitimate thing?

I would scan your computer immediately with something like malwarebytes or other malware remover

And if you actually did and there's no malware, you'll have to call Microsoft cuz some file probably got corrupted.

I did originally purchase the product. I am running malware in the hopes that I find something. Good old Norton may have been asleep at the wheel again.

Both Norton and McAfee are total shit products and should not be installed on anything.

My dad gets it and gives me the free subscription so I get them, any suggestions on additional products (I would assume your previous link as one of them).
I use my laptop for video games and (real talk time) porn.

I might catch flak for suggesting this in light of the Norton hate, but I have had luck with this program: https://security.symantec.com/nbrt/npe.aspx
