Martial Stances & Berserk

Anyone know if Martial Stances work while Berserking?

My THW Warrior uses Berserk quite a bit and I'm debating focusing on a Martial Stance once I get the last rank of Weapon Bonding soon and trying to decide what to go for.

He also is 1x in MOC, so mstrike is a factor - I notice Berserking does a lot of open mstrikes unless there is a single enemy left in the room. This might make Whirling Dervish less appealing, as it only activates after a focused mstrike.

Right now I'm leaning towards Stance of the Mongoose and Parry Mastery, as it could have some nice protective benefits while in offensive. But if Martial Stances don't activate while Berserking, it may be pointless.

Any thoughts or other CMANs that may be good for a Berserking THW build?

Mongoose works while berserking, if I remember correctly.

Dervish will never trigger while berserking because berserk will never focus mstrike with a second target in the room (which is the only time Dervish triggers). But you might really like Dervish when not berserking, if you have high MOC.

Mongoose + Parry Mastery is tailor-made for berserking, because roundtime doesn't affect you when you're in berserk, so every trigger of mongoose is a free attack. I used it a lot before I switched to a shield. (Still works with a shield, but berserking is less effective with sword/board than with THW or TWC).

I didn't use it, but I think Executioner's Stance + Staggering Blow will send corpses flying into enemies while you're berserking. But I think Executioner's Stance will NOT give you an extra attack while mstriking, although it CAN give you an extra strike once your stamina goes to 0 and you single strike. So it can go off while berserking, but only once you drop to 0 stamina.

Oh, good point, I forgot about TWC. So I was wrong and you are right. Dervish should work with berserk and TWC once it drops to 0 stamina. It will never work for THW while berserking.

I mean dervish will flare if you are swinging two weapons and the first weapon kills a target, the offhand will redirect onto a 2nd target...then I assume you will strike the 2nd target with 2 more swings before going onto the 3rd and so forth.

Griffin's Voice is still my favorite stance for my THW warrior. Use open warcries to Growl everyone into offensive before berserking into a swarm with +20 AS from Holler, throw out a Bellow first to give 'em RT if you're worried about casters having a spell prepped.

I prefer having more CC options than an extra swing here and there or whatever.

Does mongoose triggering cost stamina or is it just to assume the stance initially?

I used Mongoose for a while as a THW warrior. IIRC, it only used stamina to put the stance up, but when the attack triggers you get 3s of roundtime. I would occasionally get into situations where mongoose and enemies could stack RT on me and leave me in a bad spot. It's not as bad if you're doing a sustained berserk, but it gets annoying if you run through a room, parry, and then get stuck in RT for a while.

I used it when it first came out, and it was also really buggy-- not sure if that situation has improved, but it used to swing at like, things the critters were wearing:

Mongoose berserk also worked for me on massive troll kings. One king in the room ofc, but when I mstriked and created the limb creatures, he could continue his focused mstrikes onto those.
