Basically a Monster Hunter style game, but with an FF job system.
I've clocked maybe 10 hours into it, and so far, it's enjoyable. The controls make the most sense for what they were trying to do with the 3DS controller, but it's a little difficult to get used to (L + 4 Buttons is one set of 4 abilities, R + 4 Buttons is another set of 4 abilities, and L + R + 4 buttons is a third set.)
It's definitely not as polished as a monster hunter game, but it's a great FF take on it, and a much easier entry curve. They allow leveling up of both skills and armor, so unlike Monster Hunter, you're not completely pigeon holed into a single development plan. And since skilling up... skills... is independent of what you hunt, you can still feel like you're progressing if you're leveling with friends, killing an eidolon for someone else's gear.
Overall Recommendation: Buy if you have people to play it with.
