View Full Version : Tacky, Bad Outfits

11-16-2004, 04:05 AM
This pissed me off, feel free to post any tacky, bad and dumb outfits you see flying around.

You see Someone the Something.
She appears to be a Something of the Something.
She appears to be in the prime of life and average height. She has sultry blue-green eyes and olive skin. She has waist length, flowing dark auburn hair with lighter streaks. She has an oval face, a classical nose and pouting lips.
She has a sovyn clove tattoo on her ankle.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a hammered eonake armband, a tempered eonake coif, a hammered eonake armband, a white opal inset eonake clasp, a hammered eonake armband, a delicate gold vaalin chain, an eonake buckled white backpack, a heavy eonake-link bracelet, a deep blue silk sash, a white braided silk cord belt, some velvet lined eonake thighguards, a fresh rose, some eonake studded battle leathers, an engraved eonake locket, a silver chrysalis, a solid silver armband, a courtly raven-hued dress, an eonake charm bracelet, a hooded eonake-clasped cloak, a white eonake plated gem pouch, an Elanthian snow rose, a hammered eonake armband, an Eonak crest, a mein Eonak mask, a sigil-incised pure white jade anklet, a hammered eonake armband, a holy symbol embroidered satchel, a turquoise inset eonake brooch, a doe and anvil embroidered stole, some ora-plated eonake war boots, an elaborate Eonak symbol, an enruned veniom flask, an eonake-bound weapon harness, some velvet lined eonake vambraces, a gold ring, a shimmering glaesine orb, a holy symbol embroidered bag, some studded eonake gauntlets, and a platinum clasped-hands ring.

It would appear we have a Captain Eonake out there. I know of three Captain Vaalins, and one Captain rolaren.

There's another woman out there somewhere that wears spider stuff from head-to-toe... That's kinda weird.

Though, the worst alteration of all time is, "a pair of fitted healer's wristlette gloves made of fine ivory brocade and accented with tiny ice-blue raindrop and rose charms which hang from the fingertips and chime with every movement".

I agree, Izalude. I've seen those before, and I wouldn't want any empath touching me with those freaking gloves. I bet there are bits of flesh and core clinging to the hanging stuffs. Vom.

She's wearing a stole, a dress, and WAR BOOTS? Oh, and thigh guards. They go so well with her courtly (and very short) dress.

Ugh.

Let me pick this outfit apart bit by bit. Two necklaces, WAY too many armbands, four of which are actually the SAME armband. A stole AND a cloak. A "courtly" dress (which would indicate some level of refinement) completely overrun with eonake battle gear. Quite a few rings. A bag and a satchel with the same symbols (plus a cloak, a weapon harness and a gem pouch = way too many containers). A sash and a belt, and I think I saw a scarf in there too. Two roses. Two bracelets, and an anklet. And maybe I missed it, but for the love of enoake, where are her shoes!?!?

Also, anyone who wears those orbs... pffft. Those were out the second they were in.

-K

Edited to add: Scrolling up, I see I DID miss the shoes. Not hard to do.

She is holding a golvern embossed kite shield in her left hand.
She is wearing a gold ring, an aloeas stem talisman, a shadowy black weapons harness, some lace-edged spidersilk gloves, a clear glass amulet, a golden charm bracelet, a silver-bladed midnight black fan, a gold diamond-encrusted etched symbol of Oleani armband, a golden spidersilk backpack, a delicate gold multi-tiered bellychain adorned with golden cymbals and shimmering diamonds that dangle and tinkle with each movement, a black spidersilk gem pouch with multi-colored fringes adorned with diamonds and fastened with a diamond unicorn clasp, a silver-tipped feather stickpin, a finely woven veniom mesh sack, a perfect purple rose, some shadowy blackened veniom-trimmed armor with blood-stained razor-sharp spikes protruding from the shoulders, a delicate golden wedding band etched with entwined vines accented with diamonds, a pale purple glaes spider charm, an oval mother-of-pearl locket, an elegant oval cameo, a shimmering gold silk cloak embroidered along the hem with tiny red rosebuds, a white rabbit fur jacket, a fitted spidersilk vest laced with diamond-studded gold ribbons, a front-laced pale pink bodice decorated along the neckline with delicately beaded dark pink roses, a pair of sheer golden silk stockings, some golden spidersilk calf-high gold-laced moccasins embellished with diamonds that dangle from the fringed cuffs, a silver-bound white diamond choker, a layered multicolored full-sweep spidersilk skirt flowing to the ankle-length hem and embellished with glittering diamonds dangling from delicate silk ribbons, and a furry black goat pin.

OMFG I love this. Deilcate this, delicate that, delicate the other. BLOODY SCARY ARMOR.

Also, why is she wearing a cloak AND a rabbit fur jacket? And this: "a delicate gold multi-tiered bellychain adorned with golden cymbals and shimmering diamonds that dangle and tinkle with each movement" Is just hideous. A vest...AND a bodice? Along with the jacket and cloak? I know it's cold in Icemule, but that much layering isn't necessary.

I think shoeless people can be appropriate in certain situations, Jorddyn, so you're right about that. However, with as much battle gear as she's got on, I'm guessing she shouldn't be going ANYWHERE shoeless. I'm just wondering why she missed the opportunity to have some eonake-toed boots of doom made.

OK, lets look this through...

Harness - Med ammount (most likely)
Spidersilk backpack - VLA
Pouch - Med Ammount
Sack - Large ammount, if not more.
Cloak - VLA
Jacket - Large ammount
Vest - Possible altered doe skin vest - med ammount
Bodice - small ammount
skirt - Small/med ammount.

WTF?

Adredrin has a cloak (vla), a backpack (vla), and a satchel (ma) and if I get even 2 of those things close to full, he can hardly move!

Talk about a death trap walking..

No, she has weapons too Spun...just..well, 1.

I've always found it funny that people want a weapons harness..for one weapon. heh.

Mazelina has a harness I got her..but she also has been known to carry around up to 3 weapons at a time, plus a shield.

That's cause you're a sissy. I can fill my cloak, spellkit, hip-satchel, ditty bag, harness, belt, boots, etc full with stuff and I can still hunt. I don't wear all that anymore but I know I've done it. I make a great pack mule when box hunting, just as Celember.

Kaeral

Well this is what I'm wearing, feel free to comment at will, I know I should organize the order of all of it but I'm just lazy..

You are wearing a sturdy dark leather gem pouch, a silver dragon pendant, a tooled dark leather satchel, some deep black leather boots, a delicate gold vaalin chain, some enruned deep black robes, an intricate dragonmist ring, a silver starred wizard hat, an enruned fire elemental talisman, a long-draped deeply hooded cloak, a rune-etched black leather pack and a rune-etched silver cloak clasp.

The silver dragon pendant: Etched on the surface of this pendant is a tiny silver dragon coiling around a tiny fiery-flamed silver sword. The eyes of the dragon have been inset with an emerald in one and a ruby in the other. A faceted crystal amulet, inscribed with glittering crimson runes, is held in the paws of the miniature dragon.

The long-draped deeply hooded cloak: The cloak is fashioned from a lush black silk, the hem edged with gold filigree thread. Stitched into the back of the cloak is the image of a phoenix, is wings outspread in flight. The embroidery's contrast is brought out by the outline of a darker hue of crimson thread around the image. Inlaid into where the beast's eyes should be are two faceted firestones, each slightly veined.

The enruned deep black robes: Made to encase the wearer in soft folds of deep black silk, these robes have been tailored to completely cover the arms and legs, falling to the ground so that not even ones shoes are revealed. The hood is deep enough to partially conceal the wearer's features when pulled down. The hems are in bands of dark veined silver with different patterns of fiery runes carefully stitched along each one in great detail. You also notice a small enchanter's mark. (the robes actually add to my description saying something like "his face is shadowed by the hood of his robe" or something)

The deep black leather boots: These deep black boots have been custom-made from the finest leather. Supple yet sturdy, these boots reach up the the ankle where thin bands of obsidian trim the sides. Set against the dark, glossy material of the reinforcing bands, intricately inlaid silver runes gleam when the smallest amount of light reflects off them.

Any comments and/or suggestions would be appreciated.. also I know the hat sticks out, but it's armour that I'm trying to get altered..

I think the outfit is fine, just take out some of the extras and perhaps add a bit more color. You have a lot of great shows though. Certainly doesn't belong in this folder.

All right tell me if I fail. I think I'm good to go but it's always nice to have opinions.

You are wearing a gleaming onyx nose ring, a stamped metal Saramar symbol, an onyx-studded harness with an onyx-capped vultite lance poking overhead with the butt dragging behind attached to a leather sock and wheel, an onyx-trimmed black silk greatcloak, a crimson glaes armband, some ceremonial Ishan hunts, a lustrous sleek onyx bracelet, a twisted signet ring inset with a miniature onyx scimitar on a field of crimson, an ancient weapons belt inset with a small crimson V'Tull symbol on the buckle, an onyx-studded shadowy black hip-satchel, a ceremonial onyx and crimson Ishan greatkilt and a pair of black traveling boots.

Only 3 containers because I removed my ditty bag in hopes of having it altered into a sporran so normally I have 4. The harness(thanks Mistomeer), while cool, does seem to add an extra line and I do have an onyx studded harness that doesn't show weapons and has a show (Thanks Artha) so I could swap that if it starts to get to me and then just pull out the other one for formal/ceremonial functions.

I know they're not outfits per se, but I thought I'd bring these up.

My two "favorite" bad alters ever (both are approximations, the second i saw them I was retching, thus I dont remember them exactly):

a black leather vest with the word vengenace emblazoned on the back

a blade with the hilt shaped like a maiden, arms open in song or some crap like that.

Bad bad bad.

Here is a simple one to follow. And I know not everyone does but it's only what I tend to use.

Head worn
Ear
Face
Neck
Back/Shoulder
Cloak
Armor
Arm
Wrist
Finger
Waist
Leg
Thigh
Feet

And then pin...well that depends on your idea. If I have a button, I might wear it on my shirt or my cloak. A flower might go on last because I'm wearing it in my hair.

Sooo yeah. Hope that helps.

Hi all,

Want to know why I wear that armor? It is cause I bought it that way and have not found an alter person to fix it. Give it up? No way, it is 5x pyro brig with a lot of padding. That is why I wear it, and if you do not like it don't look. By the way I move just fine wearing all I wear. When I can find an alterer to fix the brig I will, till then I wear it.

You are wearing a Mhoragian dinner jacket, a platinum-threaded knotwork armband, a small infinity knot pin, a small leather tunic, a thick belted Mhoragian kilt, a zorchar ring, some blackened veniom cufflinks, a shimmering glaesine orb, an enruned earth elemental talisman, a small lockpick case, a small drawstring gem pouch, a miniature lunchbox, some tiny leather boots, a Clan Jakarta tattoo, a cat paw tattoo, a tendril of golden essence tattoo, a plain-looking sack, a starry blue hat and a halfling feasting doublet.

Someone write a script to arrange that for me!

Edit: Lockpick case is wristworn. Doublet is pin, tunic is my armor.

Jorddyn is correct. Anticor, that outfit isn't half bad for a guy, nice and in order, it all makes sense. The harness thing is a little hideous, and someone should have pwnd a long description THAT long. But it's OK, the GMs are to blame in that case the same way they're to blame for letting Skyfawn make that fucking hideous bellychain.

Also, thanks for discussing your armor, Skyfawn. Care to discuss your cloak AND jacket combo? It's nice to LOOK at a character to see WHAT they look like, people don't want to be slammed with a fucking wall of text.

We need to talk about this outfit, Bill. The lunchbox is just silly. What exactly are the cufflinks attatched to? I didn't see anything with cuffs on it. Also, armband, pin, ring, cufflinks, amulet = too much jewelry. You aren't a kender, you're a halfling.

Since I didn't see any reply on this, I'll go ahead and make suggestions.

SHM here's how I would sequence your outfit. If you absolutely must wear all that you had listed, I'd do it like this:

a starry blue hat
an enruned earth elemental talisman
a Mhoragian dinner jacket
a shimmering glaesine orb
a halfling feasting doublet
a small infinity knot pin
a small leather tunic
some blackened veniom cufflinks
a platinum-threaded knotwork armband
a small lockpick case
a zorchar ring
a thick belted Mhoragian kilt
a plain-looking sack
a small drawstring gem pouch
a miniature lunchbox
some tiny leather boots

Guidelines used: Head to toe, front to back for torso, outer to inner for same area (like front of chest), pins right after what they are pinned to, containers where they are worn but after any clothing worn in that area.

I would get rid of a few items. Of course I don't know which ones are altered so my choice is arbitrary but here goes:

a starry blue hat
an enruned earth elemental talisman
a Mhoragian dinner jacket
a halfling feasting doublet
a small infinity knot pin
a small leather tunic
a small lockpick case
a thick belted Mhoragian kilt
a small drawstring gem pouch
some tiny leather boots

Removed:
a shimmering glaesine orb
some blackened veniom cufflinks
a platinum-threaded knotwork armband
a zorchar ring
a plain-looking sack
a miniature lunchbox

The cufflinks can be stored away when you don't need them for 4Winds, same with gold rings (assuming that zorchar one is like a gold ring).

Guidelines used: No more than 10 items total. No more than 2 pieces of jewelry and if two, must not be worn one after another, no more than 3 apparent containers (like sack, case, pack).

Of course that's only according to my own standards and merely a suggestion.

Latrin this is how I would wear yours:

a small bloodjewel necklace
a glossy black raven-feather cloak
a black metal breastplate
an imflass tower shield
a fine black leather harness
a black leather climbing pack
some fitted black leather pants
a light blue linen pouch
some black high boots

Again, for a guy, this outfit is good. Not too much stuff, and a general color theme without being overwhelming. One thing I really hate is cloaks + backpacks. Pick one!!! You also have a harness, which is where your shield should go when you're not using it. Wearing it just adds to the clutter. Find a pinworn shirt of some kind (the dagger ones sold at EG are extra cool).

Ok, how do you guys manage to keep your inventory in order all the time? I try so hard but everytime I go to the gemshop to sell gems or remove my jacket/pouch it gets messed up

Help!

She is wearing a gold ring, a haphazardly decorated pouch, a rough hempen noose, some thick mithril manacles, some sinuous indigo casting leathers, some tiny rolton-kicker boots, a padlocked mithril collar, a crescent moon-etched flask, an enruned heavy canvas jacket, and a leather medication bag.

You know I do this to help!!!!1!11!1!!

Alriiiight. Not much for a theme to work with here, but lessee. You need to pick either a noose or a collar, but not both. You also have some leathers on, and a jacket, but no pants or top or anything. Clothing, plz!

I like the pouch and the bag, but picking one wouldn't hurt. The only other advice I can give is to try and work your outfit around one favorite piece, or come up with some kind of theme, even if it's like, all patchworked/scruffy items, or all purple-y items, or whatever.

As far as staying in order, I know it's a pain, but you'll just have to sell your gems one by one. Dress yourself starting with feet first. When you log back in you'll be upside down. Log out, log in again, and you'll be rightside-up. This gives people a clear "picture" of what you're wearing when they look at you.

-K

PS I didn't come by this genius all by myself. I have to give the player of Tanager her due for having a website about Elanthian Dressing which opened my eyes, and without which Naessi would not be the fashionista she is today.

I'm fairly sure that whatever I remove stays in the same place in my inventory if I remove and rewear it. It only moves if it leaves my hands. Amulet holders and rings (and I think the female only armor) are exceptions to this.

You're right about that Jorddyn, but the times I've tried it, the giving of the bag to the gem merchant has made it "leave" your hands long enough to put it out of place in your inventory. If this has been fixed, that would be GREAT.

StrayRogue

It doesn't lose the order if you sell a container using the sell <container> command. You don't actually lose the item from your hand I believe, more over it is only the scripting that says it does.

They were a "gift" that everyone got when the Vishmiir (sp?) were vanquished like, two years-ish ago. They're actually pretty neat items (note: this is Kristin speaking, not Naessi) but (Naessi again) overly common and easily found, therefore not fit for the discriminating wearer of Elanthian Fashions.

The noose is a ring holder, the collar is my amulet holder, she doesn't wear pants/etc because she is a hobbit and I RP her as her leathers being long enough to cover her privvates (Also these leathers will be changed soon as my others are enchanted up)

the bag is for herbs, the pouch for gems, the jacket is her cloak. Manacles are my Frostacres Item.

I don't always wear the gold ring, and the flask is an LK flask and new to the outfit, she is a crazy Zelia worshipping hobbit.

They can be almost any shade of blue (they change when you touch them) and have a constellation in it that changes when you turn it (mine is set to The Guardian)

Plus like 5 other scripts.

Mine right now is a deep blue glaesine orb. They can be misty blue, dark blue, cerulean, sky blue, etc..... lots of choices. And lots of constellations.

The orb is shaped of pure deep azure glaes, crafted into a perfect orb. It hangs from a delicate silver chain affixed with a tiny moon-shaped mithril pin.

Tiny shimmering crystals hover inside the orb, pulsating slightly with the light of the stars. Currently they form the shape of the constellation of The Guardian.

Barely visible on the glaesine surface of the orb, some words have been etched in minute script around its circumference.

Minute but elegant script is barely visible as it encircles your glaesine orb...

"Frae Naira vers Deiam, Jae esais bevre Tua ae te Draekeche."

"From Dusk til Dawn, I stand between thee and the darkness."

- from the journals of
Linsandrych Illistim
circa -49,080

------------

>nudge my orb<BR>
With one finger, you nudge your glaesine orb. The constellation of The Paladin shimmers slightly before returning to its steady glow.<BR>
They see: A brief flash of shimmering silvery light flashes around Caiylania.<BR>
>raise my orb<BR>
A glittering aura of deep blue (this depends on what color your orb is set to) starlight glows around you for just a moment.<BR>
They see:A glittering aura of deep blue starlight glows around Caiylania for just a moment.<BR>
>rub my orb<BR>
The silvery light of the crystalline stars glows softly as you trace one finger across your glaesine orb.<BR>
They see: The shimmering constellation within Caiylania's glaesine orb glows softly.<BR>
>touch my orb<BR>
You trace your finger around the edge of your orb, which slowly changes color from deep blue to sky blue.<BR>
They see: Caiylania traces one finger around the edge of a glaesine orb, which slowly changes color from misty blue to deep azure.<BR>
>turn my orb<BR>
You gently turn your glaesine orb. As the crystalline entities within the orb shift and move, the constellation of The Guardian disappears and the twinkling bodies reform into the constellation of The Paladin.<BR>
They see: The shimmering crystals in Caiylania's glaesine orb shift in pattern from the constellation of The Guardian to The Paladin.
