So not sure what ta do... Mostly hunt OTF solo now... and I do enchant... Nothing over 7x basic really...
So would love some insight and ideas...
Been ewave and Burn em in OTF.. was gunna Try more immolation but seems a waste now..
May drop Fire lore to 50 and push Air upto 50... But also not sure of my Spell Placements either
So with the new changes figured its a good time ta ask you experts for some help

I'd go 75/75 on your MnE/MjE before going to 85 in Wiz ranks. You'll have plenty of training to do 7x enchanting already, and the wiz ranks are only getting you 1.25 DS per. MnE/MjE will get you AS as well as DS. I'd go 75/75/40 or something like that.
Also lores drop off in usefulness beyond 50 ranks pretty fast. So you might want to consider a 50/50 split in Fire and something else unless you really are trying to stick with an immolation build (which I just can't see being realistic with the changes).
Also, boost that perception up. its great for a lot of reasons, but most importantly it helps with CML defense.

Thanks is kinda what I was thinking... been reading a lot last 2 days.... and figured my Wiz Ranks was not getting me much usefullness

Agreed 50/50 air/fire would be better at this point.
I have 60 air and 51 fire for some reason, could have hit a seed or just ran out of tps - I have not wiki'd the lores recently.

Seeing as you are simply looking at various builds, I prefer the one shared below.
At 76, I like my 501/505 (516 as needed) setup CS build, followed up by 904 bolt. Rarely need to leech, but on a clear head I leech about 2-3 times to fry, then not needed as I go back out at 75%)
15 Armor (Doubles)
1x PF to 101
1x AS
1x MIU
2x Spell Aim
1x HP
1x EMC
.25x Air Lore to 50
1x Perception to 101
.5x Climb to 50
.5x Swim to 50
MjE 100
MnE 75
Wiz 50
(Spells will get caught back up to 3x in short order, Wiz will be 62 - MnE is staying at 75, and MjE will go to 166 at cap [should end up being about a 540ish MjE CS])
MjE CS is 433
Bolt AS is 424
(Have yet to get hit by mobs ... even laying down -- 5x doubles with Reggy nature resistance, 4x runestaff, no enhancives)

the wiz ranks are only getting you .5 DS per.
I think you're thinking of minor elemental spells, Wiz ranks above 13 give 1.25 DS and 0.33 TD per rank capped at level.

I am a self spell mage, no scrolls, artifacts, or enhancements. If I didn't need the ranks for runestaff DS, I would not have any AS/MIU right now; however, they are so cheap I just toss points in there. They do add ranks for additional runestaff DS, and aide with enchanting, so there are those benefits.
How does that effect Staff DS/Parry?
I have 9.25x spell ranks. 8x is considered ideal for runestaff DS, anything above 8x is icing on the cake for runestaff DS. As I mentioned previously, I have yet to get hit laying on my back in guarded by mobs my level and a bit above (knock on wood). Even cooler (at least for me) I can 100% ward mobs +15 levels over me, I have not tried higher then that, as maneuvers kinda kick my ass.
and would it effect enchanting?
I am sure it does effect enchanting, how much would need to be answered by mages that know the math. To date, (having just returned not long ago) I have completed 3 - 5x's, 2 - 6x's, and 2 - 7x's with this build, and the new to me enchanting rules (I had been gone for some time).
Again, just sharing another build type. The debate out there right now (with the ELR and HSN releases) is that a mage is supposed to suck at CS compared to other pures. I say you can build to a CS build and supplement that with bolting, and still have a pretty rockin' CS. I expect my un-enhanced, no outside spells MjE CS will be at least 540 at cap, and I do not believe I will be off by much as my capped sorcerer is right there in his sorcerer circle. All I can share is the build, and that I personally enjoy the build. Which is one cool thing about GS in general, you can pretty much make any build work (ok, maybe not immolation now). Hope this helps, or maybe gives you some ideas for your own personalized build.

Get PF to 1x
Drop AS/MIU to 1.5x
Drop Harness power to your level, 87.
Drop EMC down to 1x... you can pretrain up to 90 ranks for the +1 mana/pulse... but that much overtraining is a waste
Drop Spirit mana control.
Either Air or Fire, decide what's more important to you. Don't go beyond 1x in Lores. Drop the water/earth. If you go air, initial reaction would say to stop at 75 ranks. If you go fire, I wouldn't go beyond 100. But not to be exceeded by 1x/level training... waste of points.
Increase perception to 1x.
Increase climbing to 40, consider climbing/swimming to 50
Get armor use... decide between full or doubles...
Spells:
Get MjE to 87
Get MnE to 75
Dump rest into WIZ circle, should be around 55 ranks.

Gads, I have no idea why I would need/want more DS/TD, at least where I stand now at 76, perhaps for postcap overhunting? Still, I don't see a need for more DS/TD, at least at this time.The single glaring hole I see as a weakness for a mage are cmans. Would you mind sharing why more DS/TD is needed? Perhaps I am missing something, or have forgot something, or, or, or... Thanks in advance.

Fairly certain that was correcting the first reply who erroneously said that WIZ circle was only .5 DS. If I'm not mistaken (been a while), its +.5DS compared to MjE, which alone gives .75 per rank (again... iirc)
Pure mages do not require more DS (usually... That wonderful transition to a new hunting ground may be iffy!)... Warmages do though... but this is clearly not a warmage build.

Agreed on the long term... but, need to maximize the short term for the OP.

Good to know. I have not ran into that (warding issue) with my capped sorcerer, but he is only north scatter. And as already mentioned, not there yet with my mage. I also imagine your 101 across the spell board ensures the best results for enchanting? - Thanks for sharing.

You both actually have confirmed my ideas for my changes....
415 in OTF has been great last few days.. lots of instant kills...and with swapping spells to MnE it should get even better... as well as Ewave.... and my CMAN dodging SUCKS...lol... so fixing PF and PERC should help that for sure..
Maybe today Ill sit down and adjust things

Mine is 93 and struggles at the moment in OTF. I need to find a slow hunting place and adjust me spells to work better or enchanting is all I'll be doing - and that sucks. Wizards were fun.

I have CMANS to help with getting my runestaff from constantly getting knocked out of my hands. And now with the extra RT, there's even a greater chance of it happening and I'm screwed. The good thing is, I'm using throw-away ones. The bad news, stuff in OTF steals your crap. So, when I die each time I go out I wait for them to take all my stuff and it's always an anxiety trip.

Finiswolf - I'm not an expert on enchanting, unfortunately, and am not sure of the answer to your question. I think Wizard Base ranks are the most important spell circle for 925, though, so 101/101/101 is going to be better for enchanting than the common MjE heavy CS split.
As for OTF - I did OTF from probably 85-93 or so on my wizard and don't remember it being all that bad, and I didn't use Rapid Fire, either. It was a lot of PEERing to avoid swarmed rooms, and well-timed Ewave+Cone assaults. Strategies like lobbing a 530 at Seers, dispelling things if they start prepping a spell, etc, were all handy too.
If I died and didn't get immediate rescue help, I just departed - I'd rather that than be robbed of my stuff. Death Sting potions are cheap, all things considered, and it beats replacing enhancives.

Looks Like my Spells, based on Whirlins suggestions would be 88/75 and 57 in WIZ... which should beef up my Estrike and EWave... I hope...
I usually run with just My spells... and some Rangerlies as I get em.. also a few Cleric Gem spells and of course my CoL spells
Gunna test all my TD/DF and CS/AS today with my Normal spells... so when I do change.. I can compare...
Losing like 30DS and 8TD wouldnt be too Bad with losing the WIZ spells.... gaining the CMAN help with PF and PERC should help me more... I think...LOL.. dang Garrot from Gremlocks get me on occasion.

I'm sure it's a matter of changing my hunting strategy and fixing a few of my skills for better damage. I'm used to 901 RF stuff, a mana leech at times, and 502's here and there. I LOVE my 505 and wish that was more viable. Maybe I can figure something out. 505 was what got me to OTF 93 so hopefully it'll keep me going.

I was going to say, grab a few junk staves from the Landing, but I think with the changes to 411 you can grab some from the pawn that are at like +5 and bring them up to +25 or so.
Also, they have that salve at the Simucoin store people swear by. 200k isn't terrible, but that turns onto 1 mil for the five times I've gone in and the 5 times I died.

Late few Hunts in OTF I did change my style
was Ewave.. then Torch with Fire...
Lately tried a different attack strategy
with Single critter Estrike would kill Gremlocks 40-50% with 1 hit..if not 906 em... if a group Id Ewave then Burn em with 908.. and toss in a leech here and there ta get some mana Back. This way I would leave with like 70% of my mana.. fried in like 5-8min ish
A higher CS would be nice for Estrike and 502... wanna say my CS is like 422-430ish... AS is 460+
P.S Last time, yesterday, I died and departed (col) ;death_potions cost me 200k... so not too bad...
Ya I have like 6-4x flaring staffs and 2-6x plain... and some of course 5x/6x and 4x/6x so am ready when I move to the West Woods....LOL

And I had always heard that at least one train in MOC helped but I could be wrong/or it's not worth the TP and better off put somewhere else. But 1 train in Cdef and Disarm have cut the amount of disarms at least half of what they were before.

Two things:
1) Never use ;death_potions. Look for someone selling simucoin salves, or use your BOOST salve or whatever. At current $ to Silvers conversion, you'd be better off selling 1m silvers, getting the salve via simucoins, and having some left over.
2) Do not invest TP into MOC as a wizard. It's stupidly expensive. Find a +1 Rank MoC enhancive that you can wear and save yourself the spell rank worth of TP.

P.S.... Tried the Boost sting... didnt see any change in the STING.... maybe I didnt wait... Not sure

Just make sure to use it AFTER your stats have returned to normal, otherwise the first application will just remove the death effects.

well did my changes as I noted and as whirlin suggested
TD up about 15
DS up about 12 in guarded and OFF
CS up almost 40pts.. so this is sweet
AS up about 12-15pts depending on the spell casted.. 908 was up 16pts as well as 906
So am really happy with the changes... fire lore ranks down to 50 is noticeable but still works Great with Swarms in OTF. Not sure of the AIR lore yet.... Ill watch it more
410 seems more consistent ... knockdown % seems a lot better
415 I get a LOT of instant Kills... is Nice.
519 seems better with the Higher CS but.. well.. is what it is
Mana Leech is a souls sucker...LOL... getting some great mana leeches..
Tried 502.. just didnt really do much.. so swapped it out for Immolation
908 still will hit and stun 6+ targets when Ewaved prior...
So my strategy in OTF is still about the same.. with more instant Kills and More mana leeching. Ewave Large swarms.. burn em up with 908 and leech a few times. Singles Estrike and mop up with 906
