In the near future, we will be updating Minor Elemental Edge (902) to have a new self-cast version for warmages. When the spell is EVOKEd, it will enhance a weapon to grant +10 enhancive weapon skill ranks, as determined by the weapon (i.e. a dagger will grant +10 ranks to Edged Weapons skill). Training in Elemental Lore, Earth will increase the bonus by +1 per seed 7 summation of lore ranks. While we normally do not announce such changes in advance, we wanted to let wizards know of this update now, as it could impact their training and they will be getting their next FIXSKILL before this updated spell is released.

Not bad for low level.

Am I reading this right in that it would act similiar to a temp ensorcell and go on just about anything? If so that is +10 right off the bat, and up to another 14 if you did nothing but earth lore.

Yeah it's really not a bad little boost for warmages. Of course since they just completely gutted haste I don't think there will be too many warmages around.

Is this +10 skill or ranks?

I could see it reading either way, heh.

Confused, is the "self-cast" EVOKE version cast on the mage or on the weapon? If the latter, will it work on magical, blessed, etc. weapons?

It's technically on the weapon, but it'll only work for the wizard. You can't cast it on a weapon, then hand the weapon to someone else to gain the benefit. It'll work on any weapon, regardless of its other properties.

Figured it wouldn't work for non-wizards, but it being used on any weapon regardless of stats is nice.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Taernath again.

How do you figure? This spell can be used on Ora claidhs to increase your AS even further. I don't think this spell will allow you to hit magical creatures with a non-magical weapon, either.

I thought it did allow non-magic weapons to hit magic creatures in the past. Could be wrong, of course, since it's been so long since I've even considered using 902.

Here ya go.

Does 902 allow for non-magical weapons to strike magical targets? If not, could it please?

There are no plans to add that functionality. However, the updated Elemental Blade (411) will continue to do that and can work on existing enchanted weapons.

Is it possible for this to work with UAC gloves? Or are you going to have to equip a brawling weapon and suffer the penalties that come with using brawling weapons and UAC?

Yes, it'll work gloves or boots (but not both at the same time).
