Sacrifice Infest has been updated. There are two posts (post 1 (http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone%20IV/Sorcerers/Developer's%20Corner%20-%20Sorcerers/view/2364) and post 2 (http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone%20IV/Sorcerers/Developer's%20Corner%20-%20Sorcerers/view/2365)) in the official forum, and the wiki (https://gswiki.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Sacrifice#Executing_a_Sacrifice) has been updated with more details, including that the duration is 10 minutes or until 15 critters have been infested.
I tried it on a triton combatant. Affected combatants generated as an "infested triton combatant."
I did not see the area wide message when it started. The message when it ended was "The putrid infestation shrouding the area fades."
Here is the sacrifice log, for anyone interested:
You focus your inner thoughts, channeling a part of your spirit as you initiate a link with the triton combatant.
Steeling your thoughts, you begin to draw energy from your victim.
The combatant contorts in agony, his mouth open in a silent scream!
Your senses tingle, then become awash in a flood of power as the life leaves your hapless foe!
The triton combatant gurgles once and goes still, a wrathful look on his face.
Mastering the struggle against the frantic rush of stolen power, you infuse the wild energy with a dark haze of necrosis. With a small smirk, you force the sickly currents from your body, commanding them to seek and infest similar creatures in the area.
Roundtime: 10 sec.

In my opinion, a Sorcerer who performs a Sacrifice Infest is doing it for the benefit of every hunter in the area, and other hunters should feel free to kill infested critters. What do you think about that etiquette issue?

Yeah, the infested creatures appear all over the area, you'd have to be an asshole to make a claim to every single one not in your immediate room.

Yeah, if it isn't in the same room as the sorcerer it's fair game.

Lowers, as/ds/cs/td of critters, its not bad, a capped critter will see a penalty of 25 or so i think.

Yup. Wyrom just posted that the penalty is 5 + (creature level)/5

Do high level sorcerers care about any of those stats?

Yes, if nothing else -25 TD is great, since its basically for free...no reason not to use it if you have the training.

The TD hit would make it easier to get instant kills from Evil Eye. Alternatively, monsters can run away taking treasure and providing no rots (ensorcell energy) or they end up immobilized on the ground and require another 3 seconds of casting.

I have started a "necroweek" off with evil eye making a mob run so either it does provide energy or its bugged

It does not appear to work on bandits. I successfully sacrifice infested a "half-elven marauder." None of the bandits afterward generated with the "infested" adjective. I was hoping another half-elven marauder would generate so I could see if it was infested, but that did not happen.

Definitely a situation where a sorcerer would actually want to weaken their targets. Have you posted on the officials to see if they can do anything?

The wiki is wrong in that case. How did you know you started a week?

First "kill" of a necroweek (reset my 735 message) on a runaway bandit. Ill try to replicate it this weekend when i start again

So the reset doesn't automatically happen when Lumnis resets?

You may start your lumnis without killing something and check 735 and still see the 'full' message until your first "kill" of a lumnis which in this case was a cast of evil eye causing the target to run.

No kidding? Have we (sorcerers) had a discussion anywhere about how resetting the Lumnis start date with LUMNIS SCHEDULE affects the necroweek? Does it allow you to acquire two weeks worth of rots in a day once per year?
Relevant post about LUMNIS SCHEDULE is here (http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone%20IV/Game%20Design%20Discussions/General%20Discussion%20about%20Gemstone%20IV/thread/1746553).

So, something ambiguous... does INFEST 'hit' the critters that spawn in the area and cause the sorcerer to gain necro-energy when they're killed?

IN YOUR FACE! I mean...this happened this morning.
>735
You hear a blast of thunder as you twist the spiritual and elemental forces into one manifestation, preparing the Ensorcell spell...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture.
You sense the build up of necrotic energy within you approaching the amount needed to permanently ensorcell an item for the first time.
Your rapid build up of necrotic energy has left you feeling overwhelmed and temporarily unable to absorb any new necrotic power.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

You are now targeting a giantman highwayman.

CS: +548 - TD: +410 + CvA: -10 + d100: +50 == +178
Warding failed!
The giantman highwayman looks at you in utter terror!
The giantman highwayman drops its troll-claw.
The giantman highwayman drops its reinforced shield.
The highwayman turns and runs screaming into the distance, never to be seen again.
[You have 17 kills remaining.]

A human outlaw swings a backsword at you!
AS: +427 vs DS: +750 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +39 = -247
A clean miss.
