My Mage is having hell in the lower eye dealing with the occasional Mage. Is there a good way to lesson dying from them? Do I need to get some fire resist armor? Should I buy it already on there or can I get a ranger to do it or is that a lengthy process. Didn't know what was the quickest and most cost effective way. I know I can hunt other places but I'm actually looking forward to the area.

I don't know what possessed me to ask the class when I read it. DAMN IT. Anyways, are you fully spelled to the best of your abilities?

What you do is get leg armor accessory with 95% fire resist. A ranger can cast it for you, doesn't take long at all, they have to get some herbs or something and then cast it. They usually charge 1-2mil and it lasts quite awhile before they need to redo it.

The real threat from fire mages is the maneuver attack when they die. They are super squishy, so killing them before they attack is usually possible. With good full-coverage fire resist armor, or at least decent crit padding, and a healthy stock of herbs to remove minors and prevent injury stacking, you'll be good. My mage hunted there from low 60's thru early 70's and honestly, when I first started there I'd say 1 in 3 hunts ended with a rotted corpse and a pocket full of coins for the priestess, but it gets easier as the level difference between your toon and the mages decreases.
Always have 602 cast on you. Sigil determination if you are GoS, and you're gold.

U remember back in the day you could stack injuries and not be able to leave because you couldn't search out the door and you forgot the gold ring?

I've been hunting there on my sorc for the past few months. It's incredibly easy once you obtain the right equipment. I used some 5x DCP doubles with ranger fire resist. The resist cost me 650k and has never worn off. It lasts for a very long time.
Prior to that, I fought in some 4x temporarily VHCP doubles without resistance. Finding temporarily padded armor in the leathers category is a brilliant idea for any wizard or sorcerer (or cleric probably). The amount of times you get hit by anything that would expend charges is so infrequent that the padding will last you years. You can often find armor like this for ~1mil silvers, which you will easily recuperate by hunting Fire Mages.
Also, if you can figure out a good way, like I did, to kill the mages so they don't lash out when they die - it will be that much easier!

I recommend damage padding as more often then not it was not a critical that killed but blood loss.

Very strange... I've never had a blood loss issue with my DE sorc in the Eye. For the first couple weeks in the Eye, I was dying to maneuvers that crippled me, stunned me, and then resulted in being bombarded while disabled. Once I put crit padding and fire resist into the mixture, I have not yet died or even been stunned by the boil earth / death maneuvers. That makes it a lot easier to continue hunting, and on Teras you can just drink some awesome ale if you're low on blood!

Man, I loved those back when clerics were able to ambush, but you had to bind them fast. Super squishy heads.

I'm pretty sure OP is talking about the maneuver after they die, in which case damage padding would be useless because it's not going to one shot anyone without it being a crit death.
