Just wanted to urge/remind everyone to give to Toys For Tots this year.
Currently there should be some Military personel stationed at your local Toys R' Us. If not, there will be bins in most stores (Target, Walmart, K-mart etc...)

My best friend in high school took something out of one of those bins once and gave it to his girlfriend for a present.

I give every year. Whats 20 bucks compared to the smile of a child on Chrismas Day?

Here at Office Depot, we sell a teddy bear in which all proceeds go to the Toys for Tots charity. Bear's 10 bucks, CD of bear doing x-mas ish is 5 dollars.
I bought 10 last year and gave them away to kids who didn't get anything at a local gift-giving place for the homeless. Do a good thing for the kiddos.

If anyone donates to this charity operation then...

you should promptly goto your local community dispersal location and see the great joy this brings to the parents who come to pick up the toys. They are more grateful then that bum is when you give him an OE 40oz or a MD 20/20.
They usually are accepting volunteers to help out. I've done it for years and find it a great experience. Being a parent I know it means alot to me that my children have a wonderful childhood and this program in particular makes sure that many of them do have a great Christmas and not just a fukin 8lb turkey.

What if we don't have any of those stores in the town we live in? :(

I prefer to work/give on the end that gives them the fukin 8 lb turkey. Why? If we provide them with 2 days worth of food each week, they can take the money they'd spend and buy gas, bus tickets, medicine, or Christmas presents (or whatever else they need most).
If I give a toy, they get a toy.
In other words, don't knock those who give turkeys or any other food. We're doing something good, too.

First of all I said not JUST get a turkey. I am not bashing in any way people giving turkey dinners. Most of these people are on welfare and other government support programs and toys are out of the question. They don't get one toy, these families get loaded up, Bikes are even given.
This charity fills the gap. Medicine? Food? Money for the utilities? Thats why we pay taxes.
I was merely supporting this charity. Make a child happy, they are the future.
I'm generally very against charity. I hate the very idea of them.
BUT.. I strongly agree with this one. This gets the "Arkans seal of approval" and I strongly suggest you follow my example and donate.

FYI I doupt you'll find a Toys For Tots bin at a Target, I know in years past they wouldn't let us set one up. It might have changed if it did great but I wouldn't know as I now refuse to shop there.
And yes the children make this drive worth it. I did it for all 4 years I was in and it was a heart warming experience. I've got pictures somewhere of the guys and I handing out toys in our dress blues and the kids are just so happy.
And they compare us servicemen to the Nazis on the Official Gemstone boards.. feh!

You can donate through the website. Trust me, the kids get it. I've been dealing with them for years and my husbands band plays the benifit for free almost every year. it's a good cause.
I have my daughter save for it now too. She's only 3 and doesnt understand it yet, but she saves for weeks (whatever change we have, she gets etc..) and then we go to Toys R' Us and she picks out a toy for a little girl, and I pick one out for a little boy. It's a good tradition to start with your kids and teaches them to be giving.

I wasn't aware Target had that policy, that's really too bad. You would think, that they would simply to sell more toys, they don't lose anything by letting Toys For Tots set up there, not a dime. I thought I had remembered seeing one there last year, perhaps I was wrong.

In addition to doing the toys for tots It's nice to actually hand out toys to the kids on Christmas. My god-mother works for the state and I go with her to hand out presents to kids who are wards of the state and in long term foster care. Seeing their faces light up when they see someone cared enough to buy them presents is very rewarding.

Target also came out with a new policy this year...they don't allow bell ringers for the salvation army to ring bells outside their stores anymore.
Yet the one I work at, they allow the casino shuttle to leave from their parking lot. Odd.

Yeah I heard rumors of them stopping the bell ringers as well, I don't think that them not allowing Toys for Tots and Salvation army to be there will last long. It's going to put the wrong image in the minds of the public and the bad PR will eventually force them to change back.

I love watching the soldiers give out the toys. The kids go nuts and it really helps grow a bond between civilian and military.
