Question -
Any high end pay events coming up?
1. I feel like RTCF and the more generous EGs over the past few years saturated the market a bit. Especially on the high end weapon side, it hasn't seemed like the investments paid off. Any thoughts?
2. Coin prices - they're at the lowest point since winter of 2012. Any thoughts there? Will the next pay events shoot them back up again?
3. Any services that may be more rare moving forward as compared to previous years?

The supposed 4th quarter GM auction this year will most likely drive prices up... unless of course they decide to make it a simucoin auction. =(

You could always try consulting a magic 8 ball.
My forecast is probably don't quit your day job, or if you don't have one now might be a good time to find one.

Depends on your perspective.
From an economic perspective, Gemstone requires an silver sink that can remove money from the economy to help keep the value of a silver relatively consistent.
From a player economic investment perspective... I'm sure that there were many items that had gains in total value after work performed in RtCF/EG, and generated profit for their owners. I actually have minimal problems with this... given the cost of ticket and time to get the services, it's not unreasonable to expect gains on investments from going to these kinds of events.
From a gear inflation perspective... that's where we have some problems. RtCF and EG introduced a large quantity of items that were previously sacred. Think about how rare self-chargers were before RtCF! Nowadays, they're selling for less than 10m for self-chargers with multiple spells in them! That would have been unheard of two years ago!
The problem with gear inflation is when the content doesn't scale accordingly. We're still hunting OTF, Nelemar, Rift/Scatter, which we were doing before getting the additional +60 weighting bubble flaring claid of doom. We're just steamrolling it and further reducing the risks of hunting there... and our old +55 weighting bubble flaring claids of doom are getting distributed, and increasing the overall players' power in the game, further reducing the threat. The solution to gear inflation is new, harder content... which we were promised in the HSN release, but I think they took it back to the drawing board to further evaluate. The problem is that the only way to kill characters has become instant-death, which is unavoidable instant-dissapointment, and it no longer becomes a game of skill or gear, but one of completely pure randomness.
I mean... 3 years ago, I would have never dreamed that I'd be using an 8x, Heavily Sighted, 3-slot fusion Ensorcelled longbow, with a +10 Dex Bonus, +13 Spell Aiming Bonus, and +13 Ranged Bonus Orbs...

We need to get Krakii in here to comment on this. He obviously knows a lot about pay events, based on his posts on the boards, just like he knows a lot about the Adv Guild, and has quite extensive knowledge of capped hunting grounds.

Questions like this should just be rephrased to reflect what they are actually asking....
Some really cool items have been released, meaning more people get cool items, meaning "I" can't monopolize the market and make thousands of real dollars off of the huddled masses. What's everyones opinion on that?

1. Don't invest in video game text objects and expect a profit, your investing in something that costs nothing to create, and only appeals to a very small number of people, and is a resource you don't ever "Own". Simu owns all game content. (from an investment point of view)
2. Boohoo? they are likely to be lower, just think how low they'd get if the person(s) hanging onto the 20 billion silver supluses sold out. not to mention instead of finding ways to correct the silvers economy, they just invent more types of currency.
3. ??? you should probably ask your magic 8ball.. stop trying to invest in game item trading, and try trading in the stockmarket.. maybe actually make some money, instead of any tiny profit you can scrape up from this game.

There is nothing wrong with the silver economy. Silvers are sitting on a price that they have averaged for probably the last 8-12 years. They'll go up, and they'll go down, sometimes significantly, but I doubt there is another game out there with as much currency stability as Gemstone has had over the last 12-15 years.
I worry more about the introduction of alt currencies, because they have the potential to throw a wrench in the historically stable Gemstone economy.

There is a certain level of skill, adaptability and longevity in the game that isn't based on weapon/gear quality. The game has a few nifty mechanics for that, but doesn't utilize them a ton. You see it in invasions, which is one aspect I've always loved, but the events like EG (if they boost gear a ton or not) round out the game.

Silver economy seems stable. We just need more of it sometimes for good items.

Don't expect an event this year where you can take a shit item, add 100 million in services and sell it for 50 mill. (at a huge loss for you of course)
Maybe next year.
